I have to say I really love the new uniforms, they look just like the old ones but with, like, bump mapping haha.

It'll annoy me a little bit if this is meant as a reboot. It just seems like too much to take a story that spans 700 episodes and 10 movies, everyone one of them canon, and then just start over. I mean, there are some things that would make annoying additions to the canon like Spock being so angry and going around choking people and Chekov being on the bridge before TOS season 2, but as long as there isn't anything like Kirk having a fistfight with a Romulan it should fit in fine.

I hope it's not meant as a reboot either. Star Trek's never been my thing, but damn, is Hollywood only cranking out idiotic comedies and remakes these days?

Of course...but it sucks when they take something awesome and remake it badly. I don't think this is the case with this movie...but we'll have to wait til next year to see.

Yeah, but I don't think Star Trek needs a reboot. There's a ton of post-Nemesis history waiting to be chronicled on-screen.

They should have made a DS9 movie.

Truth. There's some expanded universe stuff out there (which I haven't delved into) about picking up the pieces after the Dominion War, maybe something like that could be adapted into a good movie. It just wouldn't make sense to do it now, but a few years ago it would have been awesome.

The early rumors for Star Trek XI said it might take place during the Romulan War that took place just before Kirk's generation were running starships.

BTW, the new trailer is up in HD in an hour.
