I honestly can't, I've watch so many stupid filler episodes for this show already. The problem with Smallville is that is takes the "monster of the week" formula and makes it more important than the actual characters on the show. Smallville does have some great characters, but their actual interactions only take up 33% of the episode, the other 66% is filler.
Even though I say this at the beginning of every season, season 5 looks like it will be the best yet. The show finally moves away from high school, the villians are getting better (Disciples of Zod!) and Clark is done with the bullshit of hiding his secret from Chloe.
And the second meteor shower was just epic.

Yeah, personally I find things kick into high gear for Season 8. But there are some really solid moments on the way there.

I tend to fast-forward through villains in general. I don't care about them enough to watch them more than is necessary to understand what is going on. I'll watch it for real the first time, but skip past the scenes on re-watches unless they have something else really awesome to recommend them.
