sigh... Super Hero Taisen... sigh...

I dont think asking for something to not suck ISNT asking too much.

Also, Kabuto is utter anus garbage. Fine, it's looks purrty. Whatever. But it is a poorly poorly poorly written series. And "looking nice" would be too shallow of a defense for an overall story that is just televised vomit and diarrhea.

Sucking is in the eye of the beholder :P

And yeah Kabuto is awful.

The reason Kabuto sucked because Tendo has one of the biggest God Complexes. He never loses a fight, is perfect at everything he does, and the entire story seems intent on fueling that complex.

I like the Kabuto movie better than the actual show.

Kabuto sucked because of poorly handled characters (namely Daisuke, Tsurugi, and the Hoppers) and a plot that kept forgetting what it had already established. (Note: Tendou suddenly having received his belt from Natives in the Shibuya ruins when earlier he had tried to kill them there for revenge.) Also the fact that the writers kept shoving in mysteries for the audience to mull over (as though they were trying too hard to repeat Agito) only to forget to resolve many of them afterward. Whether or not people like Tendou, he was the least of the show's problems.

Expecting

If the movie wasn't good, it's not really suprising. In order to have a hudge crossover like this, it requires A LOT of planning, and they finished fimling just a few months after the announcement of the movie. For the movie to good, they need to show the comparisons and contrasts of sentai and riders, show a lot of interactions within the characters, and i was hoping for the sixth/extra sentai rangers and the secondary/extra riders to show up...:disappoin

this looks to be a visually impressive movie, but from what i understand about the plot, this movie is also a story telling mess.

...only to be out done by Tsukasa.

Anyway, Kabuto was okay for me, but there was more to be desired. If I wanted to watch it for comedy, I'd pay attention to Drake and Sasword (remember folks...Den-O was a year away).

PS: Thebee was SCREWED...SCREWED I TELL YA!!!:shakefist

Sound like what Kaito would do.

No it was actually pretty left-field and didn't jive with any of Kaito's previous appearances.

It also points towards a problem I had with the film that no-one seems to have mentioned yet: The Riders got less respect.

At some point in the film, a character says something to the effect of 'now we'll get to see who's stronger, Kamen Rider or Sentai!'

From the evidence presented in this film, the answer to that is absolutely 100% 'Sentai is stronger'. Or at least, Decade lost his 'Mary Sue-ness' whilst Marvelous' was still at full power.

I'm actually a bit more of a Sentai fan than Kamen Rider but I was hoping to see some kind of balance to the battles. Instead, Fourze, Meteor and Diend all get hammered vs. Marvelous (and Rider Hunter Silver) whilst Decade couldn't even keep on top of the Go-Busters. I accept this is more of 'personal' complaint but some of that stuff wasn't actually any fun to watch. Diend didn't summon a single Rider even once in the whole film. Decade really felt pretty amateur at a number of points.

With that said, the single most disappointing thing was
The OOOs Gokai Change
.
It was worse than LGKR's 'TaMaShii' form in how pointless it felt. All they did was call, and then fire, the Galleon Buster. That was it. The way that certain Riders used a certain team's cards and the subsequent finisher was much better.

Beyond that, I'd agree that the plot wasn't very good and the fight scenes in general were disappointing. Of course it had a number of cool sequences and moments but overall, it paled in comparison to recent gems (yes 'gems') such as 199, vs. Gavan and Megamax simply in terms of being fun to watch.

Maybe I spoiled myself by watching Megamax last night (I saw Taisen this morning) and still having it fresh in my mind but that movie showed what 'current Toei' is capable of in terms of both reasonable plotting, excellent action and well-placed humour.

Of course everyone here should watch it and judge for themselves and there certainly some highlights, like
RedMask doing a 'Rider' Kick with KR Black was short but sweet, as was the SHT2005 teamup between Hibiki and Magiranger. The Fourze and GoBuster scene in the mech was cool too.
. More of that kind of stuff, less 'OMG I MUST DESTROY ALL THE SENTAI/RIDER' and less random face/heel turns and I think we would've had a great film.
