Should I Still Watch Kabuto?

Kabuto's mess of a story and poor use of characters ranks it among the worst of the Heisei Riders, even though it had lots of promise.

I say play Area 51 instead. Certain plot points and characters are strikingly similar to Kabuto.

Really? :sly:

I thought the Kabuto suit looks great

I've had a bit of a thing of Beetles since I briefly watched Beetleborgs as a kid.

Some of my school yard chums coaxed me into watching due to them talking about it one day

I think they even went as far to say that it was better than Power Rangers

Which is weird because I actually really LIKE the designs in B-Fighter/Beetleborgs.

Maybe if I watched Kamen Rider Kabuto a little bit more, I'll change my mind.

The plot seemed dull throughout the whole series, or at least from what I watched. I think I got as far as episode 35 or 36 until I just said to myself "why am I forcing myself to watch a show I don't like?" I think I just felt obligated to give it a chance since I spent money on the series (I bought an HK). I wised up, stopped watching, and sold it on eBay and got almost all my moneys worth back, lol.

Well, I personally think everyone should finish up the entire show, or at least most of it, before they can have a final opinion on it. So I personally recommend to finish Kabuto.

Indeed, Kabuto's story is messier, compared to most of the other Heisei Riders. And that definitely makes it a weaker season. Though it's not as bad as Decade. Not NEARLY as bad. :loltongue:

As for Tendou... if you don't like him, then you're more than likely to not enjoy Kabuto at all. Fans are divided on how they feel about Kabuto. Some fans think he's a really awesome character. While others think he's a despicable jerk, that's hard to find likable.

I personally think Tendou is an okay character. Yeah, he's an arrogant jerk. But I give him credit, because he acts the way he does in order to help the people around him become happier and better people. Where as Tsukasa (Decade) was just a jerk just for the heck of it. To be honest, I think I just find Tendou more intriguing rather than directly liking him. And that credit mostly goes to the character, Kagami. Kagami imo is a great character, whom I can easily relate to. He's like the "normal" person in the show. The story is told from his point of view, and we get a taste of what it's like, being with Tendou, who is a character that's pretty much perfect to the point where you could say it's unbelievable. A lot of the times, you just want to see how Tendou works his way out of certain things. And what's also great is the he actually loses sometimes, which gives a sense of realism. Plus, great actors also support the cast.

That's my view on Tendou. And why I was able to watch through Kabuto. Kabuto had a lot of fun elements. It had an entertaining cast of characters. And an awesome battle system (Clock Up). The designs were great too. The story was messy, but I felt like it was a perfect example of what to do and what not to do in a Rider show. So overall, while Kabuto may not be the best, I think it's still worth watching. As it has plenty of gems in it that really shouldn't be missed imo. :)

I think it's just hard to believe that someone of his physical stature can be this grand badass that the series tried almost every minute making him out to be. I just wasn't buying it. It was almost laughable to think anyone would be afraid of this guy. So yeah, I guess you could say I wasn't in the camp that liked Tendou.

. Where as Tsukasa (Decade) was just a jerk just for the heck of it.

sorry false wrong bzzzt. Man times Tsukasa helped people just to help them. Hell he fought the main boss in the Kuuga world just to protect the Kuuga dudes smile. In the Ryuki world he helped shinji fight the main dude to protect shinji and rens partnership.

It's fine if you don't like DCD, but please don't make claims that he was just a jerk for the heck of it. He wasn't.

I'm sorry but that mentality just seems a bit stupid IMO. You don't like a show at all, but you watch all of it? There are LOTS of shows to watch. Why waste time on something you don't like?

He could just want to complete all of the Heisei Rider shows. I know I've watched **** I hated like Hibiki and Go-Onger just so I had them completed.

Yep, that's one of the reasons, along with giving the show a chance to the very end and gathering all the information I could to better understand the story.

I'm gonna have to agree with King, here. You gain nothing from watching something you don't like just because you're "loyal to the franchise". That's like a captain too proud to abandon a sinking ship...you're only hurting yourself.

The point of it being a television show is to grab your attention mainly on an episode to episode basis without having to wait till the finale to see the bigger picture and then somehow "reward" the viewers for sitting through hours upon hours of crap. It's called good writing. If you don't feel it's apparent within the first few episodes, hell, time to abandon ship folks!
