So, was there ever a toy line where both the Japan and US versions were compatible with each other?

Jungle Pride Megazord is exactly the same as GekiTouja, so all the Japanese Gekibeasts will work with it, that's all I can think of buy I don't know that much about the mech toys.

there's two different Jungle Pride megazords, the DX one is compatible, the "transforming" with is like a half inch smaller, isn't.

That's right, there are a lot of pictures on Rangerboard of people who've done that. KamenGrappler mentioned something I forgot that's really improtant though, there are two JP megazords. If you want to use Japanese Aux mechs you need to get the Deluxe JP.

Wait... there's two DX JP megazords?!?! can anyone show me what it looks like?

Oh if you're talking about compability, from wild force up to mystic force, they are compatible. also the battlefleet megazord from PROO works with the Boukenger mechs.

KamenGrappler means there are two Jungle Pride MZs, to clear up any confusion. (KG, Japanese often gets abbreviated to JP when you're talking about toy versions, just so you know.)

DK, almost all of the DX robo/MZ toys have been 100% compatible/interchangeable, even if the Japanese versions were almost always noticeably better quality. It was just for PROO that BoA came out with their own horrible, horrible PlaySkool version of the MZs.
