Samurai Sentai Shinkenger rumor/picture thread

I hate Shinkenger, so the news of this follow up makes me sad, I will probably still end up watching it anyways though

You'll be even more pissed when Takeru's grandson became Shinken Red and we're still having movies.

By that point the whole cast will be replaced with 14 year olds and Jii will be played by another actor.

How long has it been since a Super Sentai got any sort of post-series continuation or special? I want to say Jetman got an animated OVA, but I can't think of anything else....

I haven't seen it and don't know anything about it, but I recall seeing it show up a lot on tape-trading lists back in the day. I think it's just one volume, driven by Jetman being fairly popular outside the usual Sentai audience.

I don't know about an animation, but there IS some sort of live action special that takes place after the series.
Other than that, there is a manga.

It wouldn't surprise me if that special got mislabeled a lot as something animated.

Shougo or someone will know better than I, but I do know about the manga (with Jeff, the Green Eagle!) and I think there's a novel or novels by the Inouemeister himself. There's also fanfics, at least one of which I'd recommend. Haven't heard of any animation though.

...unless this is a joke, and you're actually just talking about Gatchaman.

AFAIK, Jetman didn't have an animated follow-up, but a manga follow-up. There was also one of those lame-o "Hero Club" type videos released after the series aired. "Hero Club" tapes are inexpensive tapes released by Toei that usually serve as certain key episodes edited together or clip shows, and this particular one for Jetman acted as a clip show, but it had a few brief new scenes of now-married Ryu and Kaori reminiscing about their time as Jetman, interspersed with old clips from the show. One of the new scenes showed them tending to their baby named Gai. :rolleyes2:

I definitely am not joking, I recalled seeing the thing listed on tape-trading sites all the time and being curious about it... but I never ordered it, since it seemed to me I should somehow see all of Jetman first.

I didn't know about the manga, so hey, it was worth mentioning. My bet, in retrospect, is that it was a Hero Club VHS tape that got widely mislabeled. A lot of the old tape-traders clearly had no idea what was actually in their collection.
