If Takeru was the true lord, he would have mastered the seal by now.

I 100% bet he can't do it, and that's why he threw himself so futilely at Doukoku the last time the guy came to Earth.

I bet Kaoru's reappearance toward the end is because that's when Jii decides that it's time to deploy the seal (or some other technique that only the "real" Red can do).

Well, they did say the sealing character was extremely hard to do, and Takeru didn't know how to do it yet. Remember, even his father didn't master it which is why Doukoku is still around.

What I meant when I brought it up is that in episode 11 they also said ONLY the Shiba family can use the sealing character. That would explain it.

Which of course brings us back to wondering who exactly Takeru really is... I suppose he could be a cousin or some such thing, so he'd still be the Shiba family, but not the Lord.

A younger brother or an adopted younger brother seems likely to me. I don't think a cousin would count as House of Shiba given the way Japanese inheritance works, but I'm a bit fuzzy on that count.

At the very least, in flashback, Takeru does seem to regard the previous Lord of Shiba as his father.

Yeah I'm wondering how the flashback of what I thought would have been Takeru's father in the burning house dying from arrows in his back handing the Shishi Origami to him as a little boy plays into all this.

Yeah, because that does conflict with Jii's story of the previous Red using the sealing character in his final breath against Doukoku.

What if Red inherited along the female line like Yellow and Pink, but House Shiba has always protected the heirs by drawing the Gedoushuu's attention toward a male Shinken Red who has a slightly weaker version of the powers?

We've seen how Takeru's father died, but not his mother....

Its too late to introduce a storyline like this, Shinkenger had plenty of opportunities to hint at and build such a story, and if they decide to throw it in at the 11th hour, I'd be pretty pissed if I was a fan of the show.

I still think the other Shinken Red will be an ambitious relative who is in line for the spot in the future or if Takeru was killed, or a false claimant whose made her own powers. I would hope they don't try for the "The Real Shinken Red" BS for real. I just started giving Shineknger another shot, this would totally kill it. I hope she is just around for those two episodes to shake things up a bit before the end, and then is gone.

Eh, I don't agree. It only takes one episode to establish the facts of the situation. While episode 45 is a bit later in the run than I'd want, it would still allow for four episodes of working out the consequences. That's enough time, given how few plot threads Shinkenger has going overall.

If the other Shinken Red is indeed female as rumored, then that explains why they didn't reveal her until the very end: so they could sell the male Shinken Red's toys in a business-as-usual style. Now they've sold all the toys they're ever gonna and there's no harm in letting the creators do as they please at this point. If Shinkenger has a memorable ending, that only makes the merch more marketable over the long haul.

(I do think yours won't be the only negative reaction to this if it goes down, as it's a bit bait-and-switch.)
