Rewatched Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger

[Sentaifan'07 Xman]

I just finished rewatching Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger and I have to it was somewhat ok for a police-drama theme season.

It started out taking itself very serious from episode 1-40, but then in last ten episodes it got a little blurry.

Here are my thoughts about the characters:

I. Banban Akaza/DekaRed - I admit he does a bit of the fireball attitude, but the one thing I didn't like was that he went off about the whole "Justice will prevail" thing repeatedly which through off his character.

II. Houji Tomasu/DekaBlue - Definitely my favorite among the characters. He has an ideal sense keeping his cool and always knows when he feel as though he is actually show a side that is not like him most of the time like in the illegal fight episode. Another thing I like about was that he also had some moments when something bad usually happens to him because he was torn between his personal life and as a Deka.

III. Senichi Enari/DekaGreen - The most gentle character of the show. Great personality, love the thinking pose and his character song.

IV. Marika Reimon (Jasmine)/DekaYellow - My secondary favorite character & the most beautiful Deka ever. I really dig the calm, passionate personality of her. She has a great background about her ESPer abilities, and did I mention that her character song was a wonderful match for her?! Plus, I thought her usage of nicknames were hot.

V. Koume Kodou (Umeko)/DekaPink - The youngest Deka and the cutest one. I just love everything about her. Especailly her friendship with Jasmine.

VI. Tekkan Aira (Tetsu)/DekaBreak - Probably one of the most semi-goofy character in Sentai next to Shurikenger, but who's complaind?! Love his "Nonsense" catchphrase.

VII. Doggie Kruger/DekaMaster - The best damn Mentor EVER!!! The Voice Actor did a hell of a good job of acting like the Boss. One of my favorite Extra Sentai Heroes since the Gouraigers, AbareBlack, & Nakadai-sensei/AbareKiller.

VIII. Swan Shiratori/DekaSwan - A mix between your typical Maiden in distress, but look can be deceiving. Not to mention that she was definitely the best Mother Figure to the Dekarangers and that Doggie the Father Figure, obviously. Definitely love her episode and her song, "Mother Universe."

IX. Lisa Teagle/DekaBright - I have to say, she was hardcore and I was like "DANG!!" Now would you imagine that if you were in Dekaranger, you probably call Lisa, "Oba-san"?!:laugh:

Unfortunately, I can't discuss much about Mari Gold/DekaGold, because she was a movie-only character and that there wasn't enough time for Mari to make an actual TV debut. Sorry, guys.:disappoin

Now for the villains, So far the only Alienizers that had the potential of being the permanent Main Villains were the The Siblings of Hell: Blitz, Ben-Goblin, & Succubus as well as the Gas-Drinkers: Volga, Brandel, Giin, & Whinsky. The reason why is because, I think they are more like a Mechanical Space Mafia and a sibling trio of rogue agents now-turned Demonic empire bent on revenge or turning the Earth into their new kingdom. Those who challenge the siblings' power....die. Actually, they are more like two rival underground clans seizing control of all of the Earth for their own purpose i.e. a world where Machines rule or Demons reigning supreme. As for Agent Abrella, I think he fit the category of a Double-Agent, instead of main villain, because a War Criminal in Sentai doesn't do **** for us fans. Imagine the Gas-Drinkers being the rival of the Three Siblings of Hell and Abrella was Blitz's spy who was sent to gain Volka's trust. Now that would make sense to me.

Overall, good show, very enjoyable, love the drama and comedy and pretty much one of my all time favorites.

Dekaranger was awesome and I loved every character and episode! I admitted that they had flawless out there, still and always admit that.

I liked Ban and I understand he was a hothead. The way he do that like other character from other cop shows (Third Watch, Law & Order...etc...etc)

I loved, loved, loved (still love as always) Umeko! She's one of my favorite character and I loved the focus of Umeko's episodes! The Legend of Drunken Pink Ranger. :laugh: Twins Pink Rangers! :laugh:

Doggy Kruger was an amazing mentor and part of Dekaranger as Deka Master. One of the badass character ever in the show.

I think I should watch Dekaranger again... >_>;;

Dekaranger was the first Sentai I've ever seen and watched to completion. I loved every minute of it, escpecially the charecters I did like how each episode did a new plot, kept the series fresh somewhat. Biggest complaint with the series?

is it really nessacary for them to explain what Sen's hand stand thing is suppose to be, or that Jasmine is an Esper in every episode? The fact that they have to explain whenever it pops up can really ruin the moment sometimes.

I thought Dekaranger started out okay, the first ten episodes or so were pretty good, but after that it kinda went downhill, more so when Tetsu showed up. I didn't mind Doggy, he was a pretty interesting character and I loved him being a ranger, even if he wasn't one that often.

I really wanted to like Dekaranger, because I liked the concept of a season with no main villain (couldn't even pull that off right), but it just fell flat on its face. Not to mention it has easily the worst cast in any Sentai I've ever seen, I think the only main cast members I liked were Umeko's actress and Sen's actor.

It's not my least favorite of the newer stuff, Hurricanger takes that prize, but it's down there. Some of the episodes do make for good random rewatching, but I don't think I'd ever want to revisit the series in full again.

1. Dekamaster's debut fight against the 100 footsoldiers is awesome.
2. The narration to explain several repeated stuffs is tiring to hear, not sure if its good or bad but after surviving any Space Sheriff series this is a no problem.
3. Nice Mecha gattai sequences.
4. Umeko is annoying.

Somehow, I pictutre Umeko's "Interigation" Being something strange. Like being forced to eat cake or sweets till you explode.

Not sure if everyone else feels the same way, but I liked Super Dekaranger Robo over Dekawing Robo.
