Questions about Kamen Rider the First (2005)

What's the difference between Japanese R2 and European release, if any? Will Japanese DVDs run on my DVD player?
Does the Japanese DVD have the same/ any english subtitles on?
Is it possible to play DVDs region-free with my PC?
Is the actual film any good?

Depends on who you ask. It has flaws and a very weird second plot that could have been integrated a lot better, but it was a fun ride.

To the last question,
The film is the best one I've seen. I saw Tv-nihon's sub. Everything in it was beautiful, whether you're a new age Kamen Rider fan, or an Old School fan, you'll love it.

To the other questions, I have no idea. I watched the Tvn sub.

I hated the movie, but THE NEXT looks a lot better and hopefully it'll actually be good.

But to answer all of your questions, you should be able to just buy it and play it on your computer if it's able to play DVDs despite the region.

The technical thingy questions have already been answered, but on the last one...

I was pleasantly surprised by THE FIRST. Especially considering, let's face it, if anyone was going to be critical of that movie, it'd be me. :laugh: It's not the best Rider movie ever, but it's not the worst by a long shot. Its faults are many, but so are the virtues.

In relation the THE NEXT, [HIDE]while that film definitely has better fight scenes and feels a bit more confident in handling the Riders, its subplot is much more of a killer (literally and figuratively.) Where it merely slows things down in the first movie, it stops 'em stone-dead in the sequel (this becomes painfully evident during the final battle.)[/HIDE] So I think they're about even really. Both worth are definitely worth checking out.

A horribly wasted opportunity, it's priorities are totally bass ackwards and it's a showcase for why Inoue should never be given free reign over anything to do with Rider.

Eh, well, I want to see it anyway... Managed to find the fansub torrent, actually got some seeding earlier then it died down, probably going to take a while but it's better than nothing >_>
