100 and 2000 models are the easiest to mod, which you'll need to do if you want to download games. 3000 can be done but finding someone local to do it for you it harder since it's a different process.

ChickHEN is Homebrew option for certain models of the PSP (Depending on mother board) without a Pandora Battery. If you have the wrong model, you will brick your PSP and need a pandora to fix it. From what I understand ChickHEN will not run downloaded PSP games, but will allow you to run emulators. It can also let you install CFW without a Pandora Battery.
