Power Rangers Operation Overdrive - "Kick Into Overdrive" Talk Up!

We see Mack in the back of an airplane, doing his best Indiana Jones impersination. He is tied up, and a very bad actor of a villain comes out of the cockpit and announces himself as 'The Baron'. The Baron has a relic that Mack wants. Baron leaves Mack tied up and jumps out of the plane with a parachute on. Mack frees himself and dives after him, catching up to him in mid air. Mack gets the relic, but Baron pulls the rip cord, leaving Mack plummeting to earth without a parachute. All of a sudden, Mack lands on the ground hard. We find that he was dreaming, and has fallen out of his hammock. The Butler, Spencer, admits to lowering the hammock, because Mack falls out of it frequently and Spencer doesnt want him to be hurt.

We see Mack's father discovering the Corona Aurora, and the two monsters waking up. :buttrock:

All in all, pretty solid start. I especially love the subplot of Mack's dad wanting to shelter him from the world. Ronny and Rose are both quite hawt. The Asian dude is hilarious. I especially loved the 'stuntman' intro, with him doing all the tough work and then having to let the anglo guy do the love scene. "I know how to kiss!!!" LMFAO. I also think its funny that the black guy's main skill is stealing stuff. They could explore alot of stereotypes with this season if they wanted to. But we know they wont. Still, great stuff. :buttrock:

Also, does the theme song sound a little like Gnarls Barkley to anyone else?

I don't like how TV portrays movie stuntmen... they're highly respected professionnals. Sure they're not the big stars that need to be pampered all the the time, but a good director won't look down on his stunt director and listen to his advice carefully. The idea of a director forcing a stuntman to do ridiculous and dangerous stunt and then just treat him like dirt is just completly bull.

It would also get the director in trouble with the union XD

It did help me like Dax's character all the more, he's like the loveable loser. Wait, he's not really a loser if he gets powers and Ranger powers...

Well Dax really wants to star in an action movie so it's slightly different from just the 'loser stuntman' routine.

I was really commenting on TV in general not just this instance.

anyway I got to see the episode. Yeah Mr. Hartford got annoying with his reluctance to let Mack be a Ranger even after he proved himself.

I didn't really like the slowed down 'Overdrive Accelerate' for Mack...looked creepy XD

Rose and Ronny FTW though. Rose was so HOT when she first appeared in her skirt and all oO

I wish they had given her a British accent though...then she would have made me melt with just one word ^o^

I like Red-kun so far, the plot with his father and him really made the episode interesting. He had to persevere with working to earn his father's acceptance, while Daddy himself had to learn to let go of his paternal instinct and let his son take his rightful place. Pretty good side plot for the debut eps. And I love that butler. ;)

One minor gripe I have with the show's realism though. Would you randomly leave a PDA with an important message to 4 prospective rangers just lying around? What if someone else found it? :rolleyes2:

And I still don't get why Daddy chose those four. If I were him, I would have chosen seasoned army veterans or something, not four young adults who come from professions totally unrelated to fighting evil (race car driving?) and who have had no combat experience whatsoever. But heck, it's just a kids' show.

Well they have specific skill related to other things. He also needs to find the jewels so he needs people who can do that part too.

Hey guys, ive been gone for a while....and i was wondering, whats the pink ranger's actres's name? Sorry if its a repeated question,i just want to know.
