Power Rangers MegaForce, Ep 01 - "Mega Mission"

I can acually name one: Ninja Storm, the catch was that they thought the Power Rangers were just comic book characters, so they became surprised to find out that they were real
That's funny cause that was the main example I wanted to use for my case. How are you going to think there comic book characters if there are giant monster attacking cities all the time?

The same way EVERY OTHER SEASON HAS?! After Lost Galaxy find a season where the team knows what Power Rangers are before episode 1. Seriously where have you been?

Well there is Lightspeed, Time Force, Dino Thunder, and SPD...

And if we're being literal, there is also Wild Force and Samurai.

They couldn't get a tad more creative with the OP? Song aside, everything else was smoother and placed better, but the calling out the names is lame and credit edit could have been better. I love the beginning and end of the song though.

So, caught the episode on Youtube and I have to say it was rushed, but was still a decent premiere.

The only old school things I liked was Gosei being the Zordon V2, and the MM/Zeo type power ceremony. I love when they show the sentai footage of the heroes before they dawn the suits with the deep bgm.

Jake will probably be my fav of the bunch...and just like I said..Troy's actor whaaaack...but he's better than Jayden's actor. lol

They were all given heavy doses of marijuana as children , leading to existential brain damage and loss of clear memories concerning the attacks.

Dino Thunder? You mean the one where they needed to watch a video montage of all the past rangers to learn what rangers are?

so i just watched it on youtube, and i'm kinda mixed about it. on one hand we have the great tributes to mmpr and other seasons but on the other it feels like a rehashed samurai right down to rangers saying there names in the intro to a cheesy one liner by the red ranger after battle.

speaking of troy, he feels like a rehashed jayden. he said at the beginning that humans were born to work together just like how jayden refuses to work alone. and his acting sticks out like a sore thumb.

Well, that was painful.
This episode was just Day of the Dumpster modernized for 2013, and very nakedly so with NO subtly. The base-cave set was bland and had no personality, Tensou was too Johnny-5-ish for me and Gosei invoked Zordon for NO REASON other than to give old fans something to wank off to. Plus it had some very glaring editing fails with Non-PR sentai warriors being in the legend war footage and the cards still obviously have their Goseiger text.

Yellow and Pink are hot though, and it wasn't a copy-paste plot from Goseiger (a problem we won't really has this season it seems), so those are some good things.

Not impressed overall. Could be worse though.

Personally I dug all the MMPR nods.
The episode for me was a step up on virtually every level from Samurai...or maybe Samurai just tore me down that much when it comes to PR...I will see how things go.

Jake and Noah are my favorites out of the gate. The girls need work and Troy is....he just needs help.

Watched the episode a few times already to do and still pleased by it. Optimistic for what this season holds.
