I have major doubts that this is anything but the trailer to a possible fan film, and you know why? because it's set during the 1st Generation. If there were to be a true live-action Pokemon movie, it would be up to date, and therefore at the least it'd be set in Sinnoh with Dawn instead of Misty or her first replacement May(though having one or more of those two in addition to Dawn wouldn't be out of the question), as well as using Sinnoh Pokemon and, most likely per the tradition of the animated movies, involve more recent legendary Pokemon. It's just the logical thing to do, as the series has continued to this very day. If this were real, I would decry both Nintendo and whatever studio would hypothetically be making for making a film like this purely for the nostalgia factor, when the true fans of the series are the ones who stuck with the games and continued to watch the show past the 1st Generation and to present day(like myself). Those are the kind of fans that deserve a live-action Pokemon film. It wouldn't be too bad to include flashbacks to past generations, but to me, it would just be a travesty to not make something like this up to date

The thing with this is that adaptations of old things like Transformers and G.I. Joe is that they're live-action versions of the original continuities, but the thing with Pokemon is that there's only ever been one continuity and it's still continuing, so what makes the most sense to make a movie out of a continuity that is still continuing to make it modern rather than going back to the very beginning(which by now was over 10 years ago)

Adding on to what I said before, more proof of this being a fan trailer is the nature of this was dark and gritty as opposed to the cheerful and child-friendly nature that Pokemon was always intended to have. If it were real, the filmmakers would've done their best to make the costumes totally accurate(which they were't), and there would be teen actors playing Ash, Misty, and Brock, not people who are obviously adults
