Playstation Portable(PSP) a good buy?

I'm thinking about buying one of this. The question that I want to know is it worth shelling out $250 for it?

Or should save it and get an X-Box 360 in November.

I love mine, but I've put a lot of money into it(a 512 MB memory stick isn't cheap). So far I've only owned two games, Death Jr. and Metal Gear Acid, and I love both of them ;)....plus, being able to condense any toku I want to watch on a trip from around 200 MB down to maybe 60-70 MB and have it retain quality in PSP format is nice(I currently have 88 songs and the first episode of the original Kamen Rider on there, with roughly 32-33 MB left over ;))....

But it really comes down to your own personal preference. We can't really tell you if the money spent would be worth it to you :)

BTW.. I've just noticed that Videos are being released on UMD discs, so I have a few curious questions..

Because UMD Discs are in these protecti9ve little cases, does that mean it can protect itself from scratches which can lead it to freezing, skipping, messing about, etc.. (like DVDs)?

PSP UMDs are Region Free. Is it true?

When will there be any Sentai/Kamen Rider UMDs being released in Japan?

The PSP is awesome for emulation. My boy has over 200 Nintendo, SNES, Genesis and PS1 games loaded on his 1gb stick. :D I'm planning on getting one as soon as GTA: Liberty City Stories comes out. It's definitely a great buy if you're tech saavy. ;)

The PSP is a great buy for the tech savy person. The video encoding feature and MP3 alone is grand. especially the more mem. you have. However as a gaming machine it is completly worthless as 90% of it's library are just console ports.

For gaming, get yourself a DS. I'm up to Eight games on that and loving each and every one.

While I think too many ports is a bit much, I think it's pretty cool to play PS2 quality games on the go.

Sadly they're not region free. Happily, I'm getting one for Xmas! Sadly, I have to buy the games myself cos my Dad spent £180 on it and not spending anymore on me for Xmas! I'm buying: Metal Gear Acid, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, Wipeout Pure, Burnout Legends, Wedding Crashers UMD and Transformers: The Movie UMD. :D
