If we're ending MEGA THREADS, then what is the point in "combining threads" then?
Wouldn't it just create MORE MEGA THREADS?! See the logic in all of this
I agree! Please don't combine all the haul threads, they'll have to get locked sooner and I really really don't wanna be forced into scrolling past all those Toy pictures just to see the awesome video hauls. That's just me though. Good luck with your new locking policies.
Actually, if we did it like this, this would save the amount of space the VG Haul and DVD Haul threads would usually take, albeit the DVD Haul Thread never went past 2.5k posts since its first in 2/10/05 and the VG Haul thread never went past 1.5k posts since its first in 9/5/05, not really warranting a second gen thread. The Toy Haul thread is the only one that's done that.
The Haul Thread won't exactly be a Mega Thread
IF you know how to compress.
If we go monthly, then all you'd have to do is...
- Take pictures of every to most of your material hauls worth noting after buying (or bringing home), storing them into the computer or a storage device for later. Best to put it in a folder labeled the month and year, say February, 2011. As a file name, label the pictures by the date of acquirement (unless your phone or camera doesn't do that) as to know when you got it.
- By the end of the month, say February 28, 2011, compile all your haul pictures into ONE POST. Of course, it's best to keep them in [ HIDE ] [ / HIDE ] tags (without the spaces within the brackets) to compress the amount of space the collected pictures would usually take up on the page. And after each picture, be sure to tell the date and the acquired hauls.
If we go weekly, it's the same process. However, weekly would actually take up more posts than monthly if you did it by this format. Plus, not everyone buys and acquires multiple times in one week lest they go to their local stores.
When trying to know how to compress the space, consider:
A) The average amount of hauls in one post (4 hauls, one per week, is a good estimate of the average, except for a
certain person who mainly frequents the Toy Haul thread)
B) The amount of regulars who often make their hauls
C) The amount of new Haul posters who then become regulars
D) The amount of members who simply ask questions for acquirement or the toy in question.
This REALLY isn't hard to follow if you think about it. If it is, you're either not thinking hard enough or are just INCREDIBLY lazy. We're talking about forum convenience, not YOUR own personal convenience.
