okay, I guess I'm gonna have to be the rude one here (even though I hate being so.) but I really resent the fact the poster didn't add "both" or "can't decide" up on this poll because both have it's pros and cons. it actually is an unfair comparison IMO, because if I say I prefer the new stuff, then I'm a noob and not hardcore, if I say the old stuff, I'm hardcore and constantly berating others because of their opinions, which I don't like very much.I love sentai as a whole and, yes there are sentais I don't like from each era, but I love enough from both eras to say I am a middle ground person.
for one thing, I think each and every show should stand on it's own two feet, being based on it's own pros and cons. is abaranger or gekiranger better then zyuranger or dairanger just because they didn't have these certain attributes the others do or vice versa? are 80's sentai better then 00's sentai because the 00's sentais are more carefree then the 80's?
if I had to state an era of sentais I loved, it would have to have been the nineties sentais, maybe partially because of the stock footage used for power rangers, but I feel that overall, they were the most original ones. they have varied themes to them rather then the basic same concept of the 80's that only varied about three times if I believe. the 00's have varied themes to them but it seems more of an offshoot of the nineties then it's own beast, since alot of the themes (dinosaurs, cars, ninjas, martial-arts.) were used in nineties shows.
I usually find these debates futile really. because though I love nineties sentai, I also love maskman, bioman, flashman and now I'm loving liveman, and I also love hurricanger, gekiranger, abaranger, and boukenger too. each generation has it's ups and downs. I can't say I prefer old school because I'd rather watch gekirangers then changeman any given day of the week, yet I'd rather watch bioman far more then I'd want to watch dekarangers. it's not one or the other era, it's the individual shows that makes it count and I'd rather go by indiviual show then generalize.
if anyone is angered by my statement or feels like they are insulted, I am sorry but it is just how I feel.
