Old School Nickelodeon Thread

As a youngster growing up in Canada, there was no Nickelodeon for me (hell, the channel only just came up here LAST YEAR).

However, all the nick shows talked about in this thread where shown on YTV (and in some cases, aired up here first) so even thought it was not on it's home channel, i still got to watch the shows.

My favorites remain as being GUTS, You Can't Do That on Television, Nick Arcade, Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Rocko's Modern Life.

I honestly cannot believe this thread has gone 5 pages without a single mention of You Can't Do That On Television.

The lack of a DVD release still pisses me off, greatly.

Well, i do know some info on that...

All the episode masters are still owned and held by the same Canadian TV station where YCDTOTV was filmed, CJOH in Ottawa. They have proven incredibly resistant to let the masters out of their vault, for some reason.

So unless they release the masters, there will be no YCDTOTV DVD's ever.

And for a earlier commenter, NickGAS ceased operations on December 31, 2007. However, Dish Network had a Automated Feed of NickGAS running until April 23, 2009, when a West Cost feed of CN replaced it.

For me, Hey Arnold! and Rugrats were my all-time oldtype Nick faves.
I mean, who wouldn't resist Helga's being in love w/ Arnold to herself and the cuteness of Tommy Pickles?

I used to watch this show every Saturday morning:

I LOVED that show. I used to get so excited when a team got to play 'Sonic the Hedgehog' on the arcade. I remember when Nickelodeon aired all the game shows on weekday afternoons like Wild and Crazy Kids, Family Double Dare, and What Would You Do? and Get the Picture.

Speaking of 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' Remember the music video for 'Feel the Fear' that was played during commmercial breaks?
