Nintendo announces the DS's sucessor, the 3DS

It'll be 3Dish probably by tricking your eyes into seeing the area inside the game as if it were tangible. I've seen it done once or twice.

Considering Sony (i believe it was Sony) just came out with a 3D TV I knew we weren't far off from getting this too.

The 3DTV is pretty nice so I have some faith in this DS. There's lots of layering tricks that can make it appear 3D (such as layers screens, etc etc)

I'm hearing it'll have an accelerometer in it. I bet it'll encourage games that include moving around. Like a WiiMote with a screen on it.

Or it may work like this...

I remember just before the Wii was announced, there was a lot of buzz about Nintendo having put out a patent on some kind of 3D hologram technology. We all assumed at the time that it would be for the Wii, but maybe this is what they were planning for?

I'm glad if it doesn't require glasses, but I hope the games will not be unplayable for people who lack depth perception.

Edit: Fangire Queen, if it's like the video you posted, that would be pretty sweet.

I don't know what to think of this yet, but I have this to say... Don't make the mistake of trashing this. Nintendo if anything is innovative. People thought the ds was a gimmicky thing when it was first talked about.

Sounds kinda cool.
Considering that it has backwards compatibility, nobody will whine about how they can't bring over their lv.100 Dragonites to Gen V
Essentially, you can travel the fifth gen region with pokémon you caught years ago.
