NFL 2011-12 Season Official Discussion Thread

I wonder who will sign Peyton Manning. He's going to make his decision next week. The Colts are basically starting over as they have released Dallas Clark, Gary Brackett, Curtis Painter and others. I have a feeling they are going to take a few years to rebuild this franchise.

The Rams have traded their #2 overall pick to the Washington Redskins. The Redskins will give up their #6 overall pick and also their 1st round picks in 2013 and 2014 along with their 2nd round pick in this year's Draft. They sure gave up a ransom to the Rams! Looks like they will most likely draft RG3 and the Colts pick Andrew Luck. Let's just hope these two guys will have long careers and not have a P. Manning/Leaf thing or hell, Tim Couch/Donovan McNabb thing.

The Jets have given an extension to.....................Mark Sanchez. "The deal includes $20.5 million in guarantees for 2012 and 2013 and $40.5 million in "new" money, bringing his total over five years to $58.25 million, according to sources. He can make an additional $10 million in escalators.

The $58.25 million gives Sanchez the seventh-highest financial package among NFL quarterbacks, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen." This dude is overrated that he doesn't deserve this money at all. Seriously, what do the Jets see in him? I rather have Alex Smith as my starter than him. I'm not trying to be a homer either. I'm just not impressed with Sanchez. He's overrated.

Yeah I can't believe it. The Bucs gave him a huge contract and I don't know if he should be paid that much. He's a great WR but the contract makes him feel like he is a Top 5 WR of the league. Now I really wonder what the Chargers are going to do. Can't rely on Floyd to be the #1 WR.

Calvin Johnson has signed an 8-year $132 million contract, including $113.5 million over the final seven years of the deal. The deal also includes $53 million in guaranteed money, with his $1.25 million base in 2012 guaranteed, and $36 million due in signing and option bonuses. Now he deserves to be paid and this is the richest contract ever for a WR surpassing Larry Fitzgerald's contract.

WR Brandon Marshall has been traded to the Chicago Bears for two 3rd Draft picks. This deal reunites Marshall with his old QB back in Denver with the name of Jay Cutler. This should be cool to see. Deep down inside, Denver Broncos fans must be saying "**** you Josh McDaniels."

WR Desean Jackson has a re-signed with the Eagles to a 5 year contract worth $48.5 million. Hopefully he will play hard in every play now and not moan about not getting the ball and money.

WR Randy Moss has signed a 1-year contract with the 49ers!!!! The contract is for $1.75 million. I like it but will keep low expectations for him until I see how he plays. I don't want no Braylon Edwards crap.

CB Carlos Rogers has re-signed with the 49ers to a 4 year contract worth about $30 million. The contract averages to about $7.3 million per year.

you know what they did? They brought in Robert Meachem (formerly of New Orleans Saints) for four-year, $25.9 million deal with $14 million guaranteed

ROBERT

FUCKING

MEACHEM!!

and I do not mean that in a good way. Guy's been serviceable in NO, but he wasn't playmaker like Jackson was. I hate AJ Smith even more now.

Yeah that is kinda weird. Lol...Robert Meachem is not a #1 WR. He's a decent #2 or slot receiver only. Norv Turner says that he has potential be that #1 WR. I don't know if I should laugh or try to take it seriously. The Charges added Le-ron McClain too. I really don't know what to make of these signings.

Leron McClain signing means they're letting go of Mike Tolbert.

as for Norv Turner saying that.... **** Turner. That's what him and AJ said about Craig 'Busted' Davis and look what happened to him.

I'm kind of amazed that we're in a world where being seventh is somehow this big, controversial thing.

Seriously, what do the Jets see in him?

There's no denying he's very hit and miss. And say what you will, he helped the team to the cusp of the big game two years in a row.

The main problems with him are:
1) He's still relatively young for a QB, so he still makes some rookie mistakes.
2) Having a manager like Rex Ryan paints a "Steelers pay good money for it" sized target on your back whenever the former opens his mouth.

Hell, part of the reason Mark got resigned may be a result of the spin control the team had to do after Ryan's little "we'd love to have him" comment that was pretty... well, unprofessional of him.

He's overrated.

I'm also kind of amazed that "overrated" now means, "sneered at and derided whenever his name is mentioned anywhere".

He still hasn't done enough to impress me as the Jets QB. Last year was horrible for him. Until he starts playing well, he will always be overrated to me. Only played one full year at USC too.

It's official guys! The 49ers have signed a Manning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WR Mario Manningham has signed a two-year contract with the 49ers. With Crabtree and Moss as the starters, Manningham at the slot, and VD terrorizing defenses, this is gonna be awesome!!!
