Next super sentai theme

For a real kick back to the 90s, it's not "cyberspace", it's "virtual reality" :laugh::laugh::laugh:.

I think if they're gonna do a video game theme, it will reference the various ways of playing video games nowadays (handhelds, touchscreens, consoles).

Megaranger isn't video game themed. An arcade game features in the first episode (and pops up again from time to time in later episodes) but the series theme is consumer electronics. Plus space themed mecha. And the show is really more about being in high school...

Having said that, I'm not really sure how you would do a video game theme? Do you just copy the whole alternate dimension thing from Go-Busters but pretend it's cyberspace (woah...90s flashbacks whenever I hear that word)? Or will the team be made up of a warrior, a mage, a summoner, a bard and a thief with a paladin sixth ranger?

You could make it about monsters from a popular MMO suddenly coming to life and despite the best effort they can't shut down the servers and so the Rangers use outfits based on the character classes and download weapons into the real world or something? And some episodes they go in the actual game?

It won't surprise me if they do Jungle Animals again. They can do a crossover with Gaoranger, Gekiranger and 2015 Super Sentai if they do animals. The red ranger will likely be a Lion, Tiger or sometype of big cat.

I'd like to see them try mythical creatures (Changeman and Magiranger and such) again. They could mix it up and make them knights, with each character's individual design based off of a Western mythical beast, then maybe play up the armor through the collectibles if they want to go the extra mile - do a bestiary sort of thing maybe? Just so long as they can get a dragon in somehow.

Alternatively, I'd love to see something with sea life. Shark, whale, dolphin, squid, that kind of thing. We've had birds and jungle animals (and obviously dinosaurs) before, so why not another specific type of animal for a change? They love putting food in the shows, they could add a seafood focus to it or something.

Insects are the other type of animal that I'd love to see a whole team based around, and not just because Rider's abandoned it, but because I just love Toei's bug-themed suits and I hate that we've yet to have a full Sentai team based on creepy crawlies. Red Ant could have super strength, Blue Spider could climb on walls, Yellow Bee could be the obligatory Sakamoto fanservice device and "sting" people, and so on and so forth. I just can't imagine a world with an insect Sentai where the suits weren't awesome, and I want to be a part of that world someday, darn it!

I think if they do try vehicles again, they need to be more creative with the robots. ToQGers have grown on me, and I've grown to really love the suits, but they could do a lot better.

That all said? I'm going to guess we'll get a mix of animals again. They'll need to with Drive having ToQGer's vehicle gimmick - they don't want to run that into the ground, I would think. Unless they want to do a "concept" like pirates or samurai or ninja... in which case I would like to return to the top of my post and push knights again! Or another go at angels, but more... angely.

It almost doesn't matter what the theme is, we almost certainly will get animal mecha because they seem to always sell well. Even ToQger can't get away from them, with the new movie introducing animal-themed trains.

That'll have to wait a couple of years. Goseiger will be five years old next year, and the minimum Toei's ever gone between re-using themes is (iirc) 7-8 years

What do you mean by "more angely"? I can't see how the angel theme could be pushed harder other than by introducing some form of religious concepts (which I can't imagine Toei wanting to do) and/or giving them wings and suchlike earlier (fair game, but the idea of the Goseigers having to earn their wings worked well for that show imo)

Well, I thought the reasons I listed were fair enough. I'm primarily interested in how the suits would look, and I imagine for many it stems from that - Japan does awesome, awesome things with bug-based designs in their media, yet somehow we've only gotten extra heroes in Sentai out of it. I'd like to see what they could do with it.

It could very easily bomb, but I'd still like to see it happen. Even if it did bomb, that doesn't mean they couldn't revisit the theme and do it better. That's like saying, say, if Zyuranger had sucked, Abaranger and Kyoryuger should never have existed. It's not like Zyuranger invented dinosaurs or anything.

I didn't think it was really there at all in Goseiger, to be honest. They just kind of said they were angels - they could have been aliens from a planet that had warring tribes on it and the same effect would have been there, I think. I'm not saying they need to push religious stuff in it or anything, just do something not so... that? Sorry, this is vague, I know.

I have two Idea's for themes that I personally want to see and they have the sentai characters for it and could easily be great in the states (US).

sentai or power rangers ....Night Force.....vampire, werewolf, Frankenstein, medusa, mummy, zombie characters..and yes I have a great idea of which sentai characters would fit.

the next sentai or power rangers ... Justice....best rangers form a team red , yellow, blue , pink, green, best 6th ranger..and I have a idea about that one also but its great.

I had an odd idea awhile ago, but it would be really complicated to pull off. Basically a mix of different rangers, all with different motifs, like they had been part of separate teams but the rest of there respective teams had been kiddnaped, gone missing ect so you could have like red military tip ranger, blue car type, yellow animal type and so on. so you would really have a mix of different types and the mech would probably look interesting.

That'd be pretty cool! I really like that.

Would they eventually get their proper teams back by the end? They could have a whole subplot where they go back to their "original" team but decide they belong with the mishmash instead.

... Okay, that's getting a bit outside of talking about just the theme, but still.
