New to Sentai

Hey Everyone I am new to this board and new to Sentai. I have watched Hurricanger fully and really enjoyed it. I have watched up to Episode 33 of Abareranger and gave up as the characters were interesting but the story was blah. Sorry If I'm rambling I am a little shy and dont know what to really say.

It's good to hear you liked Hurricaneger. :)

I would highly recommend you to finish Abaranger (especially since you're so close to finishing). Since the characters technically are the plot. The theme of Abaranger is "The lure of power and power corrupting. The desire to use this to make the world one's toy." Keep that in mind. Though this IS a big Abaranger fan talking, so if you don't want to finish it, that's okay. :)

Sentai is a pretty big franchise, so I'll try and say what I can to get you onto a good track. Basically, the first seven seasons (Goranger-Dynaman) are what I like to call the "normal Sentai" due to their simplicities (imo, Goggle-V is the best among them). After Dynaman, each Sentai picks up a different motif and different story themes. Thus, there's always a season out there for everyone to enjoy. I'd definitely recommend checking out almost every season from Bioman-Gekiranger. But of course, that's too big of a quantity to start off.

Gosei Sentai Dairanger is often one of the more popular recommendations for people who are new to Sentai. It is loved by both old school and new school fans, and is overall just a very well made and popular season. :)

I'm not entirely sure what your tastes are, but if you're one of those fans who wants to stay comfortable around the newer seasons for starters, I'd definitely go check out Gekiranger.

Last thing i heard Tv-Nihon was subbing it you can check it out there, or i have the show RAW if you like.

Yeah I checked Nihon, seems that theyve only done a few episodes or so. How watchable are raws? Can you make out whats going on? Never watched raws before.

Well I'm in the process of downloading Shinkenger. This will be my frist Sentai.

Hopefully it wont suck. The torrents where easy to find, didnt feel like downloading one by one.

Shinkengers was my first sentai exposure as well (great series but found it hard to relate to the characters). From there, I spread out to Goseigers, Dekarangers, Goongers, Boukengers, and Magirangers. They did have Hurricangers on yotuube before Toei decided to get all snippity and take everything related to Sentai down except for a few MVs. :redface2:

I want to try to create my own Sentai series.

I think RAW's are pretty watchable if you have some sort of basic knowledge in the language, like i so far have watched Goseiger till Epic 32 RAW and it was very understandable to me, But for someone who isn't looking into to speaking it fluently I'd recommend simply learning the common words which are used in sentai, like Henshin, Gattai, Ikuzee, Minna and such just knowing these mere words can make you understand a whole lot more than you did before and if you are looking to learn more this is something i did, watch with a dictionary next to you so you can translate any word that sounds weird to you, Finally watch some PR "Power Rangers" i mean sure not all of us like it but it pretty much advertises sentai's common formula in an easier way due to it being in English.

:thumbs:Good luck!

Sentai is easy to get raw. You miss out on some things, but for stuff that never EVER has a chance of being subbed... Well you do yourself a disservice by skipping them simply for being raw.
