They also at one time went into great detail about the production of Devastation, before it went into development hell. I'll believe it when I see it.

Also...

If it's gonna be anything like Rebirth or Legacy, it's gonna suck and not capture the feeling presented in the games (especially the originals).

It's not like I was expecting it to capture the feeling of the games.

We'll see how it turns out, after that King of Fighters movie, everything can look Oscar-worthy.

I have some hope for this remake. This Kevin Tancharoen guy seems like a diehard fan for the games and seems really passionate for it, since he's pretty excited to finnally get the task to helm this. I applauded the fact he wanted to make the web series to differentiate it from the games and give everybody a fresh new take on it, but everybody who's a longtime MK fan (including here) were mixed about it. But he already said in the article it won't have that kind of concept for the movie, so that also gives me hope. And I'm sure his remake of Fame was just a cash grab.

I have hope for this remake. It's not like it can get any worse than the original 2, especially the 2nd.

They should cast Bolt as Sonia Blade.

The first MK movie was great. It followed the games story, had OK effects for the time, and the fights were fun to watch.

The movie deal marks the end of a journey for Kevin Tancharoen, who will direct the new film. Tancharoen, a choreographer for Madonna and Britney Spears who directed the 2009 remake of Fame and more recently the Glee concert movie, directed a short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth as a proof of concept for a Kombat movie he tried to pitch.
