NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

Well...At least Mamba will be on the other end of that offense. Of course...I'm not sure this move will solve the defensive problems they faced earlier on.

Kobe will have D'Antoni fired by the end of the season. You thought D'Antoni and Carmelo were a bad fit (don't even start on the ballhog **** about Melo, Kobe is even worse at ballhogging), Kobe will make D'Antoni wish that he retired from coaching in the NBA.

Not to mention you'll be seeing both Gasol & Dwight Howard spotting up on the 3 pt line like they're Dirk or Bargnani, when both of those guys clearly ain't 3 pt shooters for any facet of their careers (although, Mike Brown having Gasol shoot 3s was just as bad).

The Lakers just about screwed themselves up now..........look at how Melo looks now without D'Antoni, Kobe is about to make this an interesting circus for the rest of the season

I know what you mean, DoGu. Whenever I watch the games tho...I tend to tune out Lawler and Smith, myself, and focus on what's going on in the game LOL.

As for D'Antoni, His offense looks fun, but I am not convinced that it will help them bag the ring Mama-loves-Mamba desires. IIRC, D'Antoni's defensive scheme involved outrunning and outgunning the other team. All it takes is for a team with an excellent Transition and half-court defense (like the Miami Heat) to muck it up.

2 words. Jim Buss.

As long as he's around with the decision making, it's improbable (not impossible) that PJ's going to coach the Lakers again. When PJ retire, Jim made sure that anyone associated with him got the boot. Didn't even give Brian Shaw a fair chance at getting the job and hired Mike Brown. PJ should have gotten the job, but Jim's ego outweighs what the correct decision should be. The guy does not like PJ.

But I'm okay with D'Antoni. The defense could possibly pick up and be good with Dwight at the center position. That Princeton offense that Mike Brown tried to run was not fun to watch. Bickerstaff most likely didn't implement his offense, but I thought it was entertaining to watch the past couple games.

From what I recall from a few reports after Brown was fired, Bickerstaff was ORDERED by Lakers management to throw the Princeton offense into the dumpster.

And that's what you saw happen, no more Princeton.

That being said, don't expect any championships from this point forward in Lakersville..........D'Antoni gonna **** that up the Lakers quicker than he did the Knicks

Good. I know it takes time to run that offense well, but the Lakers don't have much time to make it click.

We'll see. It's the Lakers, so they always have a chance. It might be slim as of right now, but we'll see. But I'll admit it's going to fun to watch

And how about Andrew Bynum? So glad the Lakers traded him. Good player, but so injury prone. He hasn't even suited up and played yet. Our for another 5 weeks, maybe even more.

It's not gonna be fun seeing Kobe Bryant standing outside of the 3 pt line like Raja Bell for 34-38 minutes per game like D'Antoni did with Carmelo, while Steve Nash is dribbling around trying to force passes to everyone else BUT Kobe.

If Kobe doesn't see touch basketball in any significant portion of his time on the floor, you BEST KNOW Kobe will let D'Antoni know HE'S FULL OF **** as a coach

Man, you must really hate the guy since you're a Knicks fan.

Don't worry about Kobe getting his shots. He always get his shots and points, doesn't matter whose coaching. He's going to demand the ball to him if he doesn't get touch on the court. Even with Nash has the ball in his hands most of the time.

Of course Kobe is gonna get his shots b/c Kobe will completely abandon the D'Antoni offense by the 2nd quarter of a game whenever he gets the ball.........................once he realizes that the team is going nowhere running around jacking 3s from Pau Gasol in order to provide spacing for Dwight Howard (when both of those guys should be posting bitches up in the low block).

And when you abandon the D'Antoni offensive "spacing," the entire offense collapses EVEN if Nash/any PG is out there.

You thought Nash & Kobe would have trouble playing off of each other under Mike Brown..........D'Antoni is gonna make that problem even bigger, Kobe might not see the ball "if the team is fully committed to THE SYSTEM."

YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT JIM BUSS JUST SIGNED THIS FRANCHISE UP FOR........NO IDEA

Yeah.... Jim Buss does Jim Buss wants. I heard it was an "unanimous decision", but I'm pretty sure Jim Buss had the final say.

You have first hand experience, since D'Antoni coached the Knicks. Hope he does well with the Lakers, but the Lakers fans are to have to experience it rather hear about it. Including me.

Maybe it'll make the decent shooters on the Lakers team actually shoot better because I've notice something. Every single good or decent player who can shoot before they came to the Lakers are so damn awful. Meeks, Jamison, Blake.
