NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

Lol at the Lakers firing their Coach five games into the season. Never, eveeeeeeerrrrrr, seen that happen before in sports. Good job on that. They should've hired Brian Shaw back then. He seemed to be the best Coach to fit the team anyways.

It had to be done. He was instituting the Princeton offense, and they stinked.

Yesterday, against the Warriors, it was laid back and the Lakers whup the Warriors. I was watching a mess when the Princeton offense was being run.

Hope the Zen Master returns for a third time. He's going to be the only one to handle 4 stars on the same team.

Iono about Dr. Phil, DoGu. I mean...he did say he's retired.

I'm hoping for something crazy, like Van Gundy getting hired. Though...crazy and feasible is the way to go....therefore, Kurt Rambis XD

Sure, he's "retired", but if the money's there and the right conditions, he can easily "unretire".

Sucks for Mike Brown to get the boot, but honestly, I'm kinda glad. I never really liked him when he was with the Cavs. I really don't like coaches where they're calling every single play from the sidelines. He cut back a little bit last season and these 5 games, but I find it irritating. Plus, Mike cannot handle 4 stars' egos. Phil has that resume, and can easily be respected more than Mike.

Now a guy like Phil. It looks like he doesn't do anything during games, but that's what I like about the guy. It's probably because it's the triangle offense, where there's no set plays and all about reads off what the defense shows.

I'd be cool with Rambis or Brian Shaw as the head coach, but I don't think they're on the list of potential coaches that the Lakers want. It's between Jackson or D'Antoni, more so on Jackson.

Perhaps Mike Brown might have better success at a team that is in rebuilding mode, or a team that's underperforming, such as Detroit, Washington, or Charlotte. Only one superstar to deal with (if applicable), along with a whole bunch of roleplayers.

Mike Brown calls plays? I thought all "that joke of a coach" does is tell everyone to pass the ball to Lebron (in this case Kobe), and GTFO the way.

At least with Phil, there is a "triangle system" that allows everyone around Kobe to operate BEFORE they have to utilize the "Kobe system"

I would've been pissed if Adelman was hired back then. To be one of the most successful Kings coaches and then go to the enemy. Not even cool. Lol...Speaking of Kings/Lakers, sucks that we lost to the Lakers. We beat them in the pre-season a lot but I guess the Lakers had to play for reals this time. We were without DMC though. How did he get suspended? The most surprising stat of the night was Jimmer Fredette and his 18 points in 11 minutes. Talk about scoring off the bench.

Mike D'antoni is now the newest Coach of the Lakers. Is he going to run the "7 seconds or less" offense? An offense that was Kobe's nemesis for many years?

Well...At least Mamba will be on the other end of that offense. Of course...I'm not sure this move will solve the defensive problems they faced earlier on.

As for Cousins....Eh...I'm not sure the league should've suspended him. An article I read that he confronted Spurs commentator Sean Elliot, because Elliot was talking trash on-air and showing favoritism to Timmy D and the Spurs. Iono about you, but as a commentator, Elliot should've known better than to talk the way he did (and on that vein, Ralph Lawler, I like you bro, but you should try to hide your hard-on for the Clips better LOL). I just thought Cousins stepped up to confront Elliot for those incendiary comments.

Freddete got those points in garbage time... He kept jacking up shots when it didn't even count. Especially at the end of the game when he got the And 1.

There's no way that Lakers squad can do the "7 seconds or less" offense.

I hate biased commentators talking about their own team. It gets really annoying. That's the reason I dislike the Clippers. I admit that team is pretty good, but every time I see them with the 2 broadcasters talking, I get irritated so easily from them talking.

Especially, Mike Smith and his love for Blake Griffin. Everything Blake does, good or bad, he always twists it a positive way.

I'm cool with D'Antoni. Would have like PJ more, but it's going to be fun watching the Lakers play with D'Antoni's offense.
