NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

Team USA broke hella records today against Nigeria. Scored 156 points which is a record. Their margin of victory is 83 points which is also a record. Carmelo Anthony scored 37 points which is now the single game record for Team USA as he broke Stephon Marbury's record. This was an assault and something the Dream Team never did. Lord have mercy. I thought this only happens in video games...in Rookie Mode.

I like it.

Sent a message to the other teams that have to go against them that they take no prisoners.

Melo with 37 points in 14 minutes. That's ridiculous. I don't even think Micheal Jordan ever did that.

People need to stop the Dream Team comparison

Well, this USA team scored 158 points, made 20+ 3 pointers and shattered records as well as Melo's 37 in 14 minutes which has been never done before
(Even Jordan never did it in his career ever).

So, technically speaking the 2012 Dream Team vs 96 Dream Team may not be all that off. Especially when they are missing Griffin, Bosh, Wade, Howard, Rose.

What they did is definitely impressive, but people forget Nigeria's best player is Ike Diogu, who spent his most of his NBA career on the bench. Nigeria is basically a glorified D-League team...

I wasn't trying to compare the two teams but this record-setting day was something the 1992 team never did. Not even Jordan had a single-game scoring record but that's because he didn't need to do it. I let that one slide. With how this year's team is making everyone look like jobbers, it's getting safe to say that this team could possibly beat the 1996 team. They don't have the size but the athleticism is certainly there. Lebron doesn't even need to score that much lately either. I got used to seeing him go "Beast Mode" in the ECF and then Finals. So to see him not do much with this Olympic team so far is odd. Lol...

He's not doing much because there's a bunch of all-stars and big time scorers on that team. Who do you have the Heat that can do half of the things that anyone on the USA team can do?

And the biggest the '92 have ever done is 68 points. Not quite the 83 points that the '12 team, but still a lot.

The only way we can make an argument for the 2012 "Redeem Team" being able to compete with the 1992 Dream Team............is if this 2012 team had both a healthy Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh on the roster (and maybe Blake Griffin too).

The thing that makes the argument between the 2012 Team and the 1992 Team look like a joke is the fact that the 1992 team had legit "two-way" Centers in Patrick Ewing & David Robinson and solid high scoring PFs in Barkley & Malone (I don't count Christian Laettner, he didn't do much on that team).

The 2012 has Tyson Chandler & Anthony Davis...........neither guy that has a reputation of being able to put up 20+ points in the paint by themselves (even though the jury is still out on Anthony Davis).

That's the end of the 2012 Team vs. 92 Dream Team argument right there.......there are no dominating bigs on the 2012 Team

As demonstrated in today's game against Linthuania..............THIS USA TEAM HAS NO SIZE IN THE PAINT
