NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

My thoughts about that trade:
I don't like it. I don't like how the Lakers don't build their team through real legit draft picks. Always getting them through trades. Who was the last legit draft pick the team had besides Andrew Bynum? Jordan Farmar? "The Machine" Sasha Vujacic? Anyways, I'm tired of all these "super teams" being formed now. I guess it's cool if it happens to your favorite team, but for many others, basically, the rest of the 25 or so teams in the league, it's just an annoying thing. But whatever. I was glad the Clippers are coming back up but with this new look of the Lakers are going to make them look sorry again.

The Lakers' picks are almost always in the late round anyways. The year they got Bynum, they sucked big time. I mean Smush Parker and Kwame Brown was in the starting lineup....

And unreal:

If I was a Magic fan, I would be pissed. First Shaq leaves and comes to the Lakers and now Dwight gets traded to the Lakers.

The Clippers are good, but the Lakers are better.

Chrono the Lakers have to suck to be able to fully utilize draft picks. They're always contenders so they get the bottom of the barrel.

LOL, yo if you ever want to get me to laugh on command, just mention Smush and Kwame. Especially Kwame.

Actually, Smush & KWAMAY BROWN actually became a part of the Lakers after Bynum was drafted.

When the Lakers were "tanking" to be in position to draft Bynum, they had Chucky Atkins as their starting PG and Caron Butler was their starting SF (that's right, Caron Butler).

And the only reason the Lakers were "tanking" that year was because Kobe got knocked out with an injury one week after All-Star break and it knocked Kobe out for the rest of that season

Yeah? Slipped my mind.

And wth.... My memory was a bit foggy. He got traded to the Lakers for Caron Butler and Atkins...? What kind of move was that?

I looked up the 2005-2006 Lakers roster, and that team was terrible!

That year, it was very hard to watch Lakers ball....

How Kwame got to suit up in a Lakers uniform is mind boggling.

As much as I despise this trade, it does give the Laker fans a lot of joy, as Dwight is a very capable scorer, and will be the center of their offense after Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Steve Nash retire.

At least on Paper, I can't imagine that there is any team in the West that can go toe to toe with the Lakers.

On paper, the Lakers are stacked. We'll see when the season starts, but this team is fully loaded. And the Lakers also signed Jodie Meeks, a good perimeter shooter. This bench is 1000 percent better than the last 3 years.

Does that include the bench they had when they battled The Celtics and the Magic for their past 2 championships? Iono...Farmar and Vujacic were money for the Lakers.

Okay, maybe the last 2 seasons when they got booted out of the playoffs.:)

Half of the Lakers' bench the past 2 seasons didn't even play quality minutes. Hope they try and sign one more player to solidify the bench even more. I heard that Kenyon Martin was interested in playing for the Lakers. I wouldn't mind that if he signed for the minimum. :P

LOL. I personally would've liked K-Mart to stay with the Clips, but...ah well. We got Odom back LOL.

In any case, I read a snippet on ESPN stating that the Lakers' key to winning their championships was because of their acquisitions of Quality bigs. Looking down the line...Yeah, it holds true.

George Mikan = 5 Championships
Wilt Chamberlain = 1 Championship
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar = 5 Championships
Shaquille O'Neal = 3 Championships
Pau Gasol = 2 Championships

With Dwight on board, Lakers are looking to surpass the Celtics in the number of championships, and ride Kobe as much as they can before Mamba retires.
