Mighty Morphin Zyuranger! - Talk Up!

Uh, it's Power Rangers Samurai. And I'm hoping it's better than Shinkenger. It's not that I hate Shinkenger. Sure, there were some great moments like Takeru vs Juzo and others. I liked the idea of female ShinkenRed. It was great.

Yeah, I really like Princess Kaoru as Lady ShinkenRed. If there were continuity within the sentai universe, I'd wish that Kaoru would return in a different series as the permanent Red Leader of that team.

Shinkenger is a great series.

It was great, for the first 12 episodes. After the first arc with Juuzo, the series became one giant ball of filler until the 40s with maybe 3 episodes that meant anything inbetween. Not to mention Kenta is the worst sixth ranger ever. Hell, mentioning him in a ZyuRanger thread should be forbidden as it is an insult to DragonRanger.

With that said, it never occured to me how often kids are used in this series until reading this thread. Holy crap, you guys are right, there is a kid as the episode protagonist in every episode, even during the DragonRanger arc.

While you might have found it okay, you do hae to admit it is 100 times better than most of what has come out in the last five years, especially the stuff after GekiRanger.

I agree. After GekiRanger, things kinda went downhill, which is a shame. Anyway, my wife and I have only just finished watching the first episode, and we are hooked on ZyuRanger.

it is a rather surreal experience seeing the source footage I've grown up watching in its undiluted and uncut form for the first time, but without a doubt I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Shinkenger is a great series.

It suffers from the same basic problems as Go-onger and Goseiger: merchandise overkill, poor pacing, casting idols who don't have any acting or martial arts experience. But people are more willing to overlook those because the Shinkenger cast is "hot" :rolleyes2:

MegaRed was the worst Sixth Ranger ever? :eyebrow:

Zyuranger is not among my favourite Sentai series. There's something very melodramatic about it that I do not like, as if it were trying too hard to be "edgy" (a little like Kamen Rider 555.) On the other hand, I think it also has some of the best battle scenes, so that compensates for a lot of it - and Burai is the original and best Sixth Ranger :anime:

Burai is certainly one of the best Sixth Rangers, but he isn't the original, if you want to be technical. The first Sixth Ranger is Ryo from Maskman, he was the prototype Maskman, called X-1. Although Ryo's powers were destroyed by the end of the episode and so he couldn't become a regular member of the team. Burai is merely the first Sixth Ranger to be a regular/recurring member of the main team, even though he didn't last all the way to the end of the series.

OK, he's the original and best full-time Sixth Ranger

The other thing with Zyuranger is that with the exception of Burai, the rest of the team are pretty much phoned-in caricatures: Red is the default leader type, Pink is the damsel in distress, and the rest get almost no character development at all. But everyone goes "The character development in Goseiger/Gekiranger sucked, the characters were so flat, it was so much better in the days of Zyuranger!" Er - no it wasn't
