KR Blade - it's all about Chalice, ain't it?

Being a rather behind-the-times sorta dude, I'm only just now watching Kamen Rider Blade. I'm on episode 7 at the moment.

What really strikes me about this show is how NOT interesting the hero is. Whatsisface, Kenzaki? Whoever. Kenzaki/Blade is an utterly generic toku protagonist, as far as I can tell. Garren is kinda fun, being the rogue type. But CHALICE...

Man, this show is ALL ABOUT the Chalice-inator, ain't it? He's the shizzle, my nizzle! I mean, right? He's so much more complicated, so much more interesting, and so much cooler than anyone else on the show... even his costume design is superior to anyone else's. It's certainly utterly different from the other two (eventually three) riders.

Now, I'm not looking to get spoiled here -- like I said, I'm only on episode 7 -- but I really am struck by how Chalice utterly steals the show.

Eh, I always thought the early half of the series focused more on Mutsuki and Tachibana than Hajime. The second half definitely lets Hajime take more focus than anyone else and Kenzaki gets a little more focus as well, but it's mostly tied into his struggle concerning Hajime. Kenzaki is a pretty dull character on his own, so that push he gets from the plots of the others makes at least his choices seem pretty darn interesting.

It's not uncommon for some series to sorta shaft the title characters in terms of story and let the secondary leads take the center stage. Den-O and Ryuki certainly did that.

I was also gonna say i hate kensaki's (however the fk you spell it) character. He's serious at one point then, puts up a fake smile like a fruit cake the next.

I don't get him at all. Garren has a d!ckish personality but i get him. He's cool. and like you said Chalice is the best one. I'm on ep. 21 right now.

Enjoy the ride, greboguru. Kenzaki gets a lot more interesting after a while, but yeah, Hajime is definitely right up there as far as fascinating toku characters go. And you haven't even scratched the surface at this point...

Kenzaki becomes much, much more interesting halfway through right about the time when the show changes writers and suddenly becomes amazing. With the last episode he was pretty much my absolute favourite Rider. Hajime is great, though. He and Kenzaki both made Blade as far as I'm concerned.

You're in for a very wild ride.

This. He becomes more interesting later on. Early in the series, like the others he struggles to find his place and what it means to be a hero. Later on he accepts it as his duty to fight, and then... Hmhmhmhmhm.

Eh, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I definitely disagree with the starting post of the thread.
Kenzaki is my favorite rider of all time. I found them all to be interesting in that show.

lol I hated him all the way through.

Though as far as interesting, he kept up curiosity as to whether or not he'd still be an idiot in the end, or if they'd kill him...
