Kamen Rider Wizard EP 34 - "The Model's Dark Side"

Well!.....this episode I wasn't expecting about Sora all that much lol
Or at least THAT detailed.

I guess that explains why he want's the philosophers stone that much, get rid of his phantom form and become an actual wizard.

I had to tilt my head a little at how Haruto and Rinko were acting in this episode. Partially because Phantoms seem to retain mannerisms relating back to their Gates all of the time - Beelzebub was clearly still very enthused about composing and artistry, it's just that his medium was now people instead of music; Spriggan was nigh-constantly giving people security tips, etc.

(Even with Phoenix, he didn't necessarily seem to be a total 360 from Yugo. Phoenix was, after all, a really friendly, sociable Phantom who seemed to get along pretty well with a lot of the other Phantoms. He was just also a total bugnuts psychopath.)

But the other thing is that not once did either of them go "But even if he has kept his humanity, he has still tried to kill at least a dozen people and most of Kousuke's social circle." It's not an argument that I think either of them would necessarily find compelling, because Haruto is a Kamen Rider, and they're pretty particular about not killing humans, if they're superpowered human criminals, but it would've been nice to see it come up. Maybe it will next episode.

In general, though, it's an interesting storyline, and one which has a lot of potential as far as expanding on the thus-far-not-expanded-on-much-at-all nature of Phantoms. The idea that Sora is somehow Haruto's mirror image is an interesting one, too.

On a separate note, I thought it was a neat little touch how we first saw gremlin wielding those funky looking twin swords in the grandma arc, then in the infinity arc he strangely turned them into a huge pair of scissors to free Legion than this episode we learn oh, he used to be a hairdresser.

That's a good observation. I totally missed that one! *note to self: steal for podcast*

I guess if he wants to become a human again, there must be advantages to it? The Phantoms seems to have a smaller pool of magic/spells from which each can choose than does Haruto, but in Sora's case, we've seen his magic grow (remember he used the force to do a Bind) is that unique to him? Maybe because he is special he can utilize new and different spells than the "stock" Gremlin Phantom.

Also, didn't he tell Wiseman they are the same? That's one more for Wiseman and White Wizard being the same guy, and that takes away a modicum of Sora's uniqueness.

Sigh.. I guess it's good that I am loving Juuden... Wizard has just fallen flat for me since about ep 20

My newbie status is keeping me from dreading it, but this show is making me sad........ do you think that Sora got the idea to give the Gates hope through something they enjoy (money) and then taking it away causing them to Despair from the SHOW ITSELF? Think about it ladies and gentlemen, think about it.

Ok finals are over and I'm all caught in everything from Wizard to Garo. And this episode was much better than the last two. It was good to see Kousuke doing Rider duties while Haruto and Rinko teamed up. Haruto seems to have sympathy for Sora given his own situation. I've really been liking Sora though. He's a step up from Phoenix who was one-note and has an interesting back-story.

The episode seemed to stress that Sora's old customers have gone missing so I wonder if he has anything to do with that. I'm thinking Sora wants to be human which is why he wants the Philosopher stone. There have been multiple times when his attitude changes completely when no one is around which makes me think he's just acting like his gate in an attempt to convince himself he's human.

The ending of this episode was awful and if it goes the way I think it's going to, I'll gladly toss it with Rook's lame-o death from Kiva.

Also, I bet Inoue was laughing his butt off at the ending where not only did Sora fall into water with everyone believing him to be dead but, Wizard believed him enough to go and save him.

Also, didn't he tell Wiseman they are the same? That's one more for Wiseman and White Wizard being the same guy, and that takes away a modicum of Sora's uniqueness.

Yeah that's a suspicion I've had for a little while too, but it probably won't be the case though as my suspicions seem to be wrong usually

Argos Phantom huh? And the way to drive people into despair isn't make them sit around waiting for their number to come up forever, well colour me surprised! And I just realised that will probably go over anyone's head who doesn't live in the UK...

People have power ups why not use them? "Oh Nitoh can you handle all of these guys while I jump into the water, I mean it's not like I could make a clone of myself to go and do that or anything..." :shakefist

Oh well stupidity aside I really did enjoy the episode, I like getting to know our bad guys, granted in toku that usually means they are about to die but I'm hoping Sora can stick around, I enjoy his quirkiness.
