The reason to "hate" Bay movies (I think the only work I've seen from him are the Transfomers flicks, so I can't say definitely about anything else) is that they're bad. Nothing more, nothing less. Good stuff in them? Sure. But it's a flash i the pan compared to the rest of the tripe that's in them.

He writes action movies. Bay creates action movies. These movies aren't deep character dramas, they're not psychological explorations on he motivations of ****. They're ACTION **** MOVIES. Big explosions, fun one liners, intense moments of death or whatnot, and funny lines, thats what he's good at and thats what he sticks to. You don't seriously ever want to sit down and unwind with a nice little action flick without having to worry about how you're gonna feel about some guy gettig killed off halfway through the movie? Really?! Because thats what his movies are. They're action flicks. And in my opinion, damn good ones.

And why are you rabid Den-O fanboys the only ones allowed to rant? How about "ENOUGH OF THE GODDAMN DEN-O CULT!" I'm not a Den-O hater (I'm sure this will be conveniently ignored as usual) but what I do hate are the people who always jump down the throats of those who say even one bad word against it.

For one thing I'm not ranting, I'm tired of all the hate the series gets just because its not like "The rest of the series" they tried something new, and guess what? It paid off! Its a huge success. SOMEONE must like it! And another, I don't give a damn if you hate the show are not. What I don't like are people who hate on Den-O without ever explaining why. You have explained your reasons, therefore I'm not directing this at you. Its to all the people who just want to hate on it because its the "IN" thing to do. "Oh Keith must hate it, it MUST be bad, or **** like that" I doubt a lot of them have even seen the series. Same goes for Go-Onger.

Since when is "light-hearted" a greenlight to ignore storylines? Den-O had a nice story. A sad story, really. A typical Rider story, in fact. But I don't think even the staunchest lovers of the show realize that there was a story, because they're constantly distracted by the Imajins' antics. You want to know the flaw of Den-O? It's not the light-heartedness. It's not the comedy. It's that somewhere down the road the show became about four-six multi-colored genies instead of a young man growing into the role of hero (which was probably one reason why Ryo was so poorly written). The human cast stopped mattering. The plot became irrelevant. The only reason Den-O lives on is because of these genies. Not because of any real, noteworthy qualities such as an epic tale or truly memorable characters. No, because six genies are raking in money from crazy girls.

...Ummm...IIRC the story of Den-O was just as much about the Imagin needing Ryoutarou as Ryoutarou needing them. The imagin were lost and confused, Ryoutarou gave them a moral compass to follow. I'll never forget near the very end of the series, the scenes between Momo and Ryou, they were so sad and full of so much emotion.

I have no problem with the imagin and their spinoff stuff. They're legitimately funny and are always good for a nice laugh and an unwind period.

Why bother explaining for the umpteenth time when all you do is attack people for it anyway, calling them "fun-haters" and the like?

Who said anything about deep drama and psychological explorations? This is just stuff you like to label people as wanting. The Transformers movies are lackluster because of awful human characters, tired cliches, and (in the case of the second movie) forced premises with little plot.

I felt nothing anyway when characters in those movies died or almost died. Because there was nothing to care about. How can I unwind when I'm being deluged with trash?

Fair enough. But even Den-O had more of a point than that useless junkpile of vapidity called Go-Onger. And yes, I have seen Go-Onger. I even gave it more of a chance than I usually do modern Sentais, and all I ended up doing was burning my investment money.

Momo was merely stuck with Ryo (and had a lame reason for switching sides), Ura... had no real reason at all, Kint owed Ryo for saving him, Ryuu... had a lame reason too, since his conductor wish went down the drain, Sieg owed Ryo as well. So no, no one was "lost and confused".

The plot was about Yuuto and Airi, and how they had to forego their life together in order to save their daughter and the timeline. They're the reason anything appenbed at all.

Nothing really came out of them though. Ryo never really changed from what he was in the beginning. Sure they showed a hanfdul of scenes where he's 'strong', but he always reverts back to the annoying wimp in the next episode. No one ever really changed in Den-O.

And what is with this constant "unwind period" you keep mentioning. Unwind from what? Why is that always the defense people come up with for shows like this? As if something more "serious" like Nexus, Agito, Ryuki, Metalder, etc. is for when you want to think and be "depressed". Why can't you have it all? Why can't I "unwind" at the same time as enjoying a story that is full of symbolism, parallels to the real world, and has some real meaning?

Momo didn't know (or forgot, I'd have to go rewatch the series) his true purpose, and that purpose eventually became to protect Ryou, I'll agree with you about Kin. I don't remember enough about Ura...again its been a while, but I know that if it hadn't been for Ryou, Ryu would probably have killed several people, if not a LOT of people, just to get at his "Niisan" It was Ryou who provided the moral compass for at the very least Momo and Ryu, and eventually Kin and Ura went from characters who were just there out of inconvenience, to being true comrades and friends.

Again, I can agree with you on this. I would have like to see Ryou become more of a player in the series (though you can't fault the guy for trying. His constant training and whatnot) and they could've done more with Den-O's plot. I'll admit it. But overall the series isn't the hate fest its been given in the fandom. Its got great characters, funny dialogue, and very tender moments. Plust you can't tell me that the Gun Form vs. Zerenos bike gun battle wasn't awesome. Though who am i talking to? of course you're gonna say that...

Sure they stole the show, I can agree with this too. But why do you hate the Imagin becoming riders? Its a great take on the "Enemies power taking on the source" It hasn't been done like this since Faiz, and NEVER quite like this. I think it was quite unique. But yeah, I'm not too happy that they pretty much discarded Ryoutarou by the end. But don't fault the Imagins or the series for that, considering he was still a major player by the end of the series. Its the movies where he really got pushed aside.

What in Go-Onger is funny? There is no ingenuity in that show when it comes to humor. It's all the same rehashed tripe '00 Sentai is famous for. Even an awful show like Magiranger had some semblance of a point. Go-On just exists.

And why is "feeling like a kid" so important? Is your life so awful that you need to find solace in a TV show to feel better about yourself? I don't understand this argument.

He forgot. As for protecting Ryo, that would have made for a nice plotpoint: Momo acting solely out of self-interest (for if Ryo dies so does he). Instead of randomly switching sides, make him reluctant to fight his own, but in the end grow to respect Ryo and the others. A gradual change of heart, not "I'm fighting you guys because I'm badass like that!" :rolleyes2:

Again that goes back to my point. Ryo did have his moments of "strength and heroism", but none of them were that remarkable, thanks in part to the dismal execution of his character, and that he kept reverting back to his old self by the next episode.

A nice idea in theory, but its manifestation on screen leaves much to be desired.

I'm convinced now, after seeing how Den-O and Shinkenger turned out, that Ryuki is Kobayashi's Agito. Nothing I have seen of her post-Ryuki measures up to Ryuki, Timeranger, and even Gingaman if you can believe it. She's either out of ideas or isn't even trying.

I will say that the fight made sense. And I did like that they used bikes. And I'm glad there weren't many Rider-vs-Rider in Den-O after how parodical it had gotten in Kabuto.

But I don't like bad CGI used in place of actual stuntmen on bikes.

You mean "heroes using enemies' power or has something in common with the enemy", don't you? In which case every NewGen show has done that.

Why do I hate it? Because it completely negates the point of Den-O. The Riders use the Imajins for their forms and weapons. That is how Den-O did the "enemy powers" thing. Now all of a sudden there are spare Pass Buckles that the Imajins can use?? That completely makes the first episode pointless (for they were looking for the lost Rider Pass). It's now Kamen Sentai Den-ORanger. The buttons on the Taros' Buckles are vestigal. I can go on...

But yeah, I'm not too happy that they pretty much discarded Ryoutarou by the end. But don't fault the Imagins or the series for that, considering he was still a major player by the end of the series. Its the movies where he really got pushed aside.

Den-O was set up to be something inspirational. But it ended up being a rather inconsequential show, thanks to poor writing and misplaced priorities (which probably go hand in hand in some respects).
