I suppose the fact that Gotou henshin to Birth in Movie Wars Core made everybody think that Date doesn't suit to be Birth and want him to die asap, in order to let Gotou be Birth.

No, Zolda was a smug jerk off. Kaixa was a smug jerk off. Leangle was a smug jerk off. Drake and Sasword were smug jerk offs. Kengo-IXA is a smug jerkoff. Diend is a smug jerk off.

Date has done absolutely nothing to be lumped in with those people. Hell he hasn't even done anything "smug" yet unless you want to count being somewhat absent-minded and flippant.

And why do people still hate Gotou?

But he got all character development-ized and stuff. Hell, the show is honestly making the distinction that he is meant to be Birth because he is the only relatively normal, disagreeable main character. Maybe once, I could see the dislike for him, but not anymore.

Eiji, Hina, and the restaurant lady are made of soft Nerf foam. The rest ... not so much. Plus, Gotou did try to blow Eiji up with a rocket launcher

So, being "disagreeable" is normal and desirable and Eiji, the main character of the show, should DIAF because he's too cheery?

Gotou is not "meant" to be Birth. He's not owed anything. That is my main problem with the character - he thinks the world owes him a living and he "deserves" to be Birth or OOO just on his own say-so

Sure. I like him better now, but he (and his fans, more than the character now - other fans ruin most shows for me) still has this underlying attitude that he somehow deserves to be Birth because he says so. The more admirable path for the character to take would be for him not to become a Rider, and use his own initiative if he wants to fight the Yummies
