^not for me it ain't. Beside Tatoba, I didn't bother learning the names of the other subforms of subforms and any of the other combo coin names. Not even the mantis hands. I'm going with colors

I doubt this, actually. OOO's scripts don't mention most of the form names clearly in the series and there's tons, tons, tons more form name variations in OOO than in any prior series. For variant forms I bet you will only ever hear them stated aloud in belt-song form, very briefly, two or three times each.

Only one form name thus far-- TaToBa-- is being used often enough for repetition to help people memorize it. I bet a lot of people will never be able to remember OOO's variant form names easily simply because they aren't hearing them often when they watch the series.

Now maybe it's different for big toy collectors, but I pretty much never memorize Rider form names unless I hear them repeated somehow in series dialog or very clear belt sound clips. So while I love Kuuga to death and could write 6000 words about it, I don't know the actual names of any of his forms besides Ultimate and Growing.

They weren't mentioned in the show and I didn't need to know them to understand anything about the story. I might have learned them if I had hung around more tokusatsu forums like this one to discuss Kuuga when it was newer, but as it happened I didn't. Hell, I only ever learned Growing and Ultimate's names because mattcomics used them.

On the plus side, I don't think people having a hard time remembering the OOO form names will seriously hurt discussion of the show. Maybe it'll hurt discussion of the toys somehow, but for the TV show plot you clearly don't need to know the name of each individual form combo. You just need to know which medal represents which animal and that's obvious enough.

I agree that OOO's combos are not all that important for now. I mean unlike W's each combination had a unique outcome, eg. HeatJoker gave him a fiery edge to W's melee attacks, but I' not seeing that with OOO rather each part being unique to itself. Unless Kobayashi decides to turn Sanjo and Hasegawa, and give a Scanning Charge to every single combo.

I sorta doubt it. The whole Scanning Charge thing is far more extraneous to OOO's plot than Maximum Drives were to W's. While the fans had clear reason to want to see every W Maximum Drive, there's right now no reason to believe that every form will have a Scanning Charge that's all that different or interesting.
