Okay I am sure this has been brought up before but if the cake baking guy doesn't turn out to be evil I will be shocked. This character is not subtle in any way, I mean when you sing "Happy Birthday" while icing a cake in a menacing fashion just give yourself a handlebar mustache and a flowing black cloak just to save everyone's time.

As for Eiji he comes off oddly. From the promotion information it seems like his character was going to be more zen, that his attitude came from some kind philosophical understanding. But from what we have seen so far it seems to stem from some trauma namely the events surrounding the apparent death of that little girl. So now it seems to be more a case of him striving for redemption or penance. It still fits with Buddhist undertones but I can this angle allowing for the Greeeds to more easily tempt Eiji then if his ascetic lifestyle was driven by a goal of earthly detachment.

Dude, you're 2 episodes too late........Kobayashi is slowly and gradually making OOOs just like Den-O. Episode 1 it was hard to see, but episodes 2 and 3 definitely gave you that Den-O vibe regardless how much you wanna deny it.

Another observation: why does the belt speak English? It was sealed in the 13th century, long before Westerners began interacting with Japan on a significant scale. If you really want to compare Den-O to OOO, just look here: another case where toys defy show logic.
