if you notice in episode 1 while the medals forming the greeeds, Cazari has 7 core medals in his body.

Nine? I thought only three. Like Uva needs Stag Beetle, Mantis and Grasshopper. Where do the other three come from?

I'm not really sure either, but I'm taking guesses here from the information we've gotten so far.

It's said that each Greeed has 9 core medals. I've seen in Episode 2 that when Uva materialized from a ton of Cell Medals, he had Four Core Medals in him.

Also, it seems that Ankh can stay in his disembodied hand form while Eiji is using his only Core Medal. So that means he has to have another Core Medal. Also, in the opening, we see the amount of Medals seen in the series. There are two Taka (Hawk) medals. So I'm just guessing here that there are probably three copies of each core medal in a Greeed.

The current Greeds likely have more than their own Core Medals, as there are many more out there. I don't know about there being copies though, though it would make sense for Ankh to be holding out on Eiji.

Aha, well I haven't seen episode 2 yet sitll holding out on the subtitles. But the medals of two Hawk medals seen in the OP I think are the Cell (grey) medals.

I have only counted 5. But I guess I need to see that ep again.
Anyways, near the end of the OP, we can see glimpses of the complete Greeeds. Did you notived that?

Based on when the Greeeds awaken, each of them have 7 medals, and they need to have 9 to get themselves completed and not disintegrate...
