Kamen Rider Kiva - Final Thoughts for the year and look back

I remembered something: what the hell happened to that Earwig Fangire? He survived his fight with Jiro in '86, yet never appeared again!

Kiva had good characters and plots, but ultimate resolutions were just.... I mean, when did Otoya and Maya have the time to have Wataru???

:sly:

There seemed to be a bit of time skip in 86/87. Maybe not a huge one, but Yuri and Otoya's scene certainly suggests some kind of passage of time.

So does anyone know the origins of Saga? The series was very enjoyable overall, but looking back on it now theres just way too much that was left unexplained, even by Rider standards.

Saga - Unexplained completely, this belt just comes out of NOWHERE
Tatsulot - I'm pretty sure this comes out of nowhere as well

The character choices were just plain bad sometimes, mostly with Nago I think. So....this guy goes from first being a warrior of justice, to a button collecting man that makes you think that his story is going to be all about him solving his inner issues....and then he loses IXA and forgets his character. Don't get me wrong, it was kind of funny to see the IXAcise Nago type character for a while, but the original Nago didn't have reason to change like that. He also never went back to this character at all, it would be almost better to treat them as two different people all together.

Also, the last episode was pathetic. Period. Everything that you thought was going to happen with the characters did, which was good. The pathetic part that I was referring to though was that all of this stuff happened with absolutely ZERO reason for it. What should have been spread over 3-5 more episodes had to be jammed into 1 and because of that, lots of stuff just went on with the implied excuse of "well, we knew this was gonna happen sooner or later, so we're just gonna do it with no story line explaination or development at all, but hey Taiga's good now!, Oh, and Nago and Megumi like eachother!, Oh, and Wataru's bad, oh no, he's good again! He also did it to protect Taiga, how sweet!".....pathetic, as I said before.

The last episode did have two insanely awesome parts in it though, the first being when Wataru was saved by 86 IXA's arm piece. That was hardcore, almost sentimental cry worthy awesome and was one of my top moments of Kamen Rider ever, it was just utilized so well and something that you didn't expect at all, but was hinted at subtley, and of course given Otoya's greatness throughout the storyline still gives him a last hurrah even though he can't be there. The second is of course the very end which multiple people have talked about, so I'm just gonna leave it at very funny greatness.

I'm hoping for good things with Decade, I'm hoping that the apparent 30 episode time frame gives them no room to screw up characters and such. Kiva was, overall, a good series with interesting characters. Unfortunately the characters we're supposed to care more about (the 2008 ones) get heavily overshadowed by the 86 time line in my opinion, and when they go away from that timeline in the later episodes (or atleast the advancing of plotline in the 86 timeline) the show loses its most important part. Still, I think I'll remember it fondly in the end.

Enjoyed the ending more than I expected to but the handling of Wataru's fiddling with the timeline is unforgivable. Please tell me how you are supposed to be born if your father needs your help to not die before he even conceives you.

This entire series was a time travel fuckup. It was Den-o without Den-o's charm. the fact is, if they had bothered to cut half of those "wouldn't it be cool if" storylines out and just try to figure out where this story was headed. The other problem is that **** like Bron booster, Caslte Dran, and Machine Kivaa came from, or where Nago's character went

Just something I was thinking about today. Most of the belts in Kamen Rider are used to activate the change. With Kiva though, his belt is nothing but a perch for Kivat and a holder for the feustles. Kivat is the one that brings about the change.

Like I said, just something I noticed...
