Kamen Rider Gaim - Lock 04 "Debut! The Grape Third Rider!"

Wow, Kouta gets knocked down fairly early here. I didn't expect that, but at the same time it's a good sign that he's bouncing back next episode--it means they aren't wasting any time so far.

Also: Ryugen is dead. Like, SO dead. The kind of views he was espousing are much too pure for the world this show is inevitably going to plunge him in. The whole "I'd rather take on the burdens for my friends" thing will most likely get him killed.

I'm waiting on this to become a larger battle royale type series though--right now Gaim and Baron are still the main players, with Zangetsu as a wild card who's mostly doing his own thing. We need a legitimate third party to spice things up.

Now, we're finally getting into that darker direction we were promised with this show. Also interested in seeing episode five & where this Ryugen thing ends up going- especially considering Zangetsu is his brother...

I'm wondering if things with Ryugen might turn around and bite team Gaim. He was more or less a background character Until this point. I know we saw that he was a prep school kid before this episode, and then that he is the younger brother of another Rider, but now that he is involved things may get pretty crazy. I wonder if there will be a 'you were willign to give up yourt power to protect, when i took it on gladly' thing later... as well as the possability of a love triangle that could get out of hand with Mai.

Also, seeing Kouta streight up defeated, then terrified to ever transform again was interesting to say the least. Rarely do we see the main Rider get that horribly destroyed, and then on top of that him cqalling it quits like this... I know he'll turn aroudn and be better for it, but damn, thats cool.

Gaim 4:

- Kaito picked two of the same fruits, yet one became a sunflower seed Lock, and the other a fruit Lock. Why?

- I don't get this thing with boys wearing capri pants (or even girls depending on the length). They either look like they've outgrown their clothes or they're shipwrecked on an island.

- (1) Why does the grape Lock say "Budoh" but the orange and banana Locks say the English word? Shouldn't orange be "Hassaku" instead?

(2) Why do only the Riders' Locks say the fruits' names when opened? I'd rather they stay mute like the rest.

- Ryugen's Henshin is much more fluid than Gaim's and Baron's. Say 'henshin' just before the actual transformation, not at the very beginning when things haven't been set up yet. It doesn't look good that way.

- I wonder if that's all we're seeing of the Bat Invess (Assuming that's what Ryugen fought).

The fruits all look the same but actually very different, I guess. In the first episode, Kouta picked two fruits, and both become Class A Lockseeds(orange and strawberry).

The Japanese uses "Orenji" and "banana" in place of their japanese words. While grapes is still "budo" to them.

Well, tough luck, dude.

Really, everything you commented on are just small nitpicks. Chill. And I hope this means you're liking the story.

I too tire of the talkative drivers. One of the few things that bugged me about KR Double was how it would say every Memory's name twice during the henshin sequence...and here Gaim is doing the same.

For me, the best talking drivers belonged to Faiz, Decade, and OOO. There is just something about the Faiz Driver's voice. And OOO had the catchy jingles. Decade/OOO didn't repeat names either. Announcement -> Jingle -> Sound effect. Short, simple, doesn't get in the way.

I like the Sengoku Drivers' voices though, all things considered. Even though they repeat, the sequence (minus the posing) is pretty quick and not nearly as talkative as Wizard's.

Yes! And Fourze too. It's quite irritating and pointless. (Though I could even tolerate the Fourze belt itself compared to Meteor's. That one didn't even pretend to not be a cheap toy.)

Faiz, yes. OOO was the beginning of absolute horribleness. The Birth Driver was fine; but singing belts? Seriously? After the cool stuff from Ryuki to Kabuto, you're going to have belts sing? That's dumb. And the sad part is Wizard was even worse.

I question the Riders saying 'Henshin' at the very beginning, before they do their poses and belt insertions. It doesn't flow well. The 'Henshin' should be right before the Lock is sliced.

As for the voices... a banana Rider is silly enough, but a banana Rider with a announcer like Baron's? How intimidating -__-

I like OOO better than the other Neo-Heisei ones because it isn't repetitive. Double, Fouzre, Wizard, and Gaim repeat themselves SO MUCH. OOO is just the medals, then the form name. And if it isn't a combo it doesn't even sing.

Fourze gets a bit of a pass from me simply because the tone of the show was so much lighter. And Yuki's pantomiming and people's reactions during the countdown can be so amusing. Those close-ups man. Those close-ups.

I gotta agree here, it feels like they should go 'HENSHIN!' right before cutting the Lock Seed!
