The samurai motif, the lock motif, the constant throwbacks to past rider series, the entire modern west side story allusion. Honestly that the riders are themed around fruit are the last thing that come to mind. If you can't see past the fruit with all that's occurred in these two episodes then I question if you've really sat down and fully absorbed what's going on.

Let's be honest the fruit motif is going to be the elephant in the room for the entire series. While I've yet to see a suit design in the show that I can get excited about, there's plenty of other things going on to like or dislike aside from the "gear".

There's a lot of similarities between Knight and Baron, but I can't really see anything similar to the others besides "is antagonistic toward the main Rider." And even Knight and Baron have, thus far, some pretty key differences in their behavior.
Yeah, this. I get the feeling that Gaim is going to be a series where everyone agrees that the story is good, but the suits and action sequences will continue to be bitterly divisive throughout the show's run.

I disagree with you on one main point, and agree on all others. "Not dark at all"? Spoilerz: [HIDE]An entire universe gets destroyed, and then Madoka rebuilds it from scratch with the only things changed being the QB's means of gathering energy, Madoka's non-existence, and Homuras memory of the last universe. She gave her entire life, and transcended her original form of existence, and she could still only make things that much better.[/HIDE] But that aside, I agree, the Urobutcher name is a little bit silly, and the idea that this is going to be balls to the walls darkness the whole time, or even that more people are going to die, is absurd. I don't expect any more than 1 person to die in the whole series and even that is just a possibility in my mind. I just expect it to be a well written series, because he's a great writer, and I think he'll use those tools if they're the right ones, and if allowed. Thats the main part I think people forget, he's still working under other people who get final say over scripts and such.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I don't agree.
I think we could easily see more than one character death in the series, but I don't think character death equates to a dark show. I don't think anyone would describe Kamen Rider V3 as dark, but the body count in its opening episodes alone is much higher than anything Heisei Rider fans are used to seeing. The key thing is tone-- how the events are depicted, and which aspects of events the writing focuses upon.
I don't find suffering that occurs in time loop stories like Madoka to be "dark," since ultimately it all gets erased when the time loop is reset the final time. Homura suffers and Madoka makes a big sacrifice, but they succeed in creating a better world. That's my idea of a happy ending-- the protagonists got exactly what they wanted, and all those who were lost are saved.
(That's also exactly the ending of Ryuki, just fleshed out a bit more. The fleshing out counts for a lot, IMO.)

I am trying to figure out if they are making them dance bad on purpose, so that it will be easier for the kiddies to imitate them :hmm:
If so, then its totally cool in my book, but it just looks.... really really bad, and I couldn't look at Team Baron without thinking of one of those really bad J-Pop music videos.

I thought this was a great episode!
Kota's henshin abuse was hilarious, though I can't say I wouldn't do the same if I had my own belt :sweat:.
I'm liking Kaito so far. He's shaping up to be both an interesting character and a good rival for Kota. He's standoffish, but has a sense of honor that keeps him from being a complete jerk :thumbs:.
With Kota having beaten and one-upped Kaito, it looks like Gaim and Baron's rivalry is off to a good start. I'm excited for when these two finally come to blows as Riders, and I'm just as interested in seeing more conflict between the two over their differing ideals. Kota believes in helping everyone and letting them depend on him, while Kaito believes in people helping themselves and relying on their own strength. Still, they're not entirely different, as the instance with the boy demonstrated. Kaito still caught the boy, so he's not against helping others, but just believes they should take the first step for themselves.
"Armored Rider Gaim?" Well, not as bad as it could be, and better than nothing :sweat:. Though I do wonder if "Kamen Rider" will ever be outright said. Gaim doesn't start calling himself "Kamen Rider Gaim" until the Wizard Special, so I wonder when the special takes place in regards to Gaim's timeline? Then again, this is Rider, which is notorious for its loose canonicity...
I actually liked Pineapple Arms, or I at least enjoyed its fight against the Invess. I thought Gaim combining his sword with the chain mace was also pretty awesome, and by Rider standards I don't think the CG Invess was that bad. Though Lynxara raises a good point about how impractical Pineapple Arms is as a suit. My condolences to Takaiwa :redface2:.
It was weird having a secondary form be the first one to use a Rider Kick. Orange Arms does have its own Rider Kick right? At least a Rider Kick showed up faster than it did in Den-O...
Yggdrasill's plan, whatever it may be, somehow involves obtaining Lock Seeds, selling them to the teams to be used, and the Riders eventually showing up. I also want to believe that they'd take into account that the Invess would eventually start causing trouble and that it's also part of their plan. Then again, the incidents of the last two episodes might just be the first instances of Invess going out of control in public, as hard as that is to believe.
Zangetsu looks cool and deadly, both in and out of suit, and I'm excited to see what he'll bring as an antagonistic Rider.
Looking forward to Baron's debut and the debut of the bikes!

Speaking of which, I hope that Gaim will get some some kind of Hyper Battle crossover with Den-O. (Don't kill me!)
There are just too many jokes they could make between these two shows.
Den-O's peach motif, Ryuutaros' break dancing, Hōchū Ōtsuka (Deneb) being the narrator etc.

- That's a rather casual way of telling someone you've gained superpowers. And it even goes through that lengthy belt speech again like Wizard. Even Wizard knew how bad it was so they lowered the volume to background noise eventually (cutting it out altogether would have been better, but anyway...)
It would've been funnier if Kota went in and then Akira just opens the door to see him in costume. Actually all these scenes of him playing around would be funnier if they cut out the Henshin process.
- This Mai actually looks like Mai/Reddle 2 from B-Fighter.
- I like that this show is bringing back the title cards for characters and items like many 80s and 90s shows used to do.
- Neo Heisei Rider has fallen into a pattern: every other show has the villains dealing out strange items to people for their own ends (Memories, Switches, Locks) and have characters with names that sound like an emulation of American comics; the shows in between have resurrected ancient evils with the possibility of one of the heroes turning bad.
- Maybe the dance shows are just like chariot and sports car racing. People are just waiting for another gang/team to crash the party and have an Inves fight.
- This show sort of reminds me of Shibuya 15 (another show with Tomohisa Yuge plus other Rider alumni). I guess though they wanted to avoid actual gang fighting here.
- How come the Locks used in Inves fights don't blurt out what plant material they are? I prefer it that way, but it's rather inconsistent.
- Do the Inves' body coloration depend on the class of Lock they're from?
- You know what I'm glad for? We may have fruit armors, but at least there are no pointless cutesy helper bots to wring out some extra drops of cash this year.
- Class A Locks yield adult Inves?
- It would've been interesting if Shinkenger and Gaim had aired back-to-back. Samurai shows with monsters based on folklore. The next SHT could have a Gaim-Shinkenger crossover... but that's only if Toei can do something besides throwing a bunch of suits together with a plot that makes no sense.
- Why have a mouth on the forehead?
- Why are the Riders called "Riders" by people? They don't ride anything. Wait until they do before you start giving them that title.
- Even the show knows how stupid fruit armor is! Just look at next episode's title and teaser.
- I wonder if that name-the-hero bit at the end of SHT is scripted or ad-libbed.
Well I'm already having fewer irritating moments with this Rider than I've been having in recent years. That's a good sign. I hope Gaim is a better Ryuki-Faiz blend than Wizard was an Agito-Ryuki blend.
