Any chance you mind sharing isos of some of those? Some of those series could benifit from new encodes for use with subs.

I have no way of converting them to ISOs, and when I did offer to help provide raws for a fansub group, the suggestion was spat back in my face with comments as if I had kicked their mother to ground and stomped on her face with combat boots.

Not sure what fansub group was that but they sure don't know a treasure even if you grind it against their face.

As long as you have a HDD with 8 free gigs and a DVD-ROM drive, I'll be able to show you how to make isos, or find someone else who can if you're not using Windows.

Also, those guys sound like jerks.

There are plenty of apps out there to do this task. DVDShrink can be used with a region free software to create ISOs or copies of the DVD.

And those people sounds like jerks. What Rider series was it?

It was KakuRanger and the Blade DVDs.

BTW, the reason I cannot do ISOs is because my computer's rom drive died and I don't have the money to get a new one right now.

I remember this video posted in Youtube a long time ago, it was like 20 seconds of the Kamen Rider vs Shocker movie, but the HD quality was GLORIOUS. I have never seen anything like that anywhere else, and as Igadevil said to me, it's from one of the dvds. I wish the link was still around for you to see, the difference is huge.

I remember when I first got my current laptop and, I tried watching an HD video off Youtube... even for it being YT, after using SD for a long while, it was amazing!

While that collection is certainly impressive, one man's use of what is obviously an enormous surplus of petty cash does not make up for the DVDs being as expensive as they are. Simply having your favorite show AVAILABLE to be viewed is supposed to be *the most basic* of fan activities.

If they were even slightly cheaper, like $50 per 4-episode disc I'd view it slightly more favorably (slightly)...but it's about opportunity cost and comparability. Even IF DVDs are considered collector's items in Japan, I compare them unfavorably to other collectibles such as statues and figures.

For that same amount of dough you could get almost 2 dozen KR Figuarts, 3-4 RAH Medicom statues (the JPN equivalent of Hot Toys in the US), 2 dozen Megazords (US Local, a bit over half that imported), or a few dozen model kits of your own preference.

And really...what says "I'm a fan of Toku" more to people that come into your place of dwelling? A room FILLED with figures, or half a shelf of DVD cases lost amongst many others?


I certainly can't deny the official discs have stupdendous quality...and I wish with all my heart that they were more affordable. But the pricing on those things is outrageous no matter how you slice it.

Good lord that Toku collection on the previous page is sexy. So much money spent on DVDs. Lol...If only fansub groups can get a hold of those. I would love to see Kakuranger being subbed in the best quality possible. Anyways, I didn't know that Japan sees DVDs/Blu-Rays that differently than here in the US. I just see Box Sets as a collectible. But for single volume compilations, it's just whatever.

Yeah, the prices are high. When I got some DVDs from Dr. Kain, I actually felt bad because the DVDs had the retail price printed right on the boxes.

Glamador, uh... most of those were $50. At least, they were when the US dollar did not suck ass. With shipping, the AbaRanger and MagiRanger discs cost me usually around $55 for each volume. Hell, TimeRanger and Gingaman were $82 a disc shipped, while Dai, Kaku, and Zyu were around $96. Unfortunately, each Gokaiger disc ended up being about $75-86 for each disc shipped because of our worthless money.

Cirno, yeah, I know. I stopped being able to really afford the rest of OhRanger and I want to find MegaRanger 1 with the artbox before I buy the series. Same goes for Jetman. My plan is to own all of the Sentai series form 91-2000 because I consider that to be the best decade of Sentai where all 10 series during that year were good to down right incredible.

Shinga, yeah, the normal retail price is on the back. Hence why I said there was no way in hell I was going to be able to get what I made back, but at least I did not feel like I got ripped off. Mostly, but even in Japan I wouldn't get much for them. In fact, I would end up equaling out with the cost I would have to spend just to ship them to my friend in Japan.

Chronoxiong, I remember years ago an itnerview with Funimation where they had to explain to the Japanese licensors several times that Americans do not like to buy individual volumes, we prefer box sets, before they could finally get the companies to start to understand the concept.
