Kamen Rider Drive - News/Rumours Thread 1

then, comparing to gaim's first quarter (coz i think that it's the first quarter that always have a good number overall)
how's drive first quarter ?? is it stellar or...?

Gaim hit 10.9 billion yens in the first quarter, while Drive hit 9.4 billions. That 9.4 billion is actually pretty good, but the issue is that Drive's numbers in the following quarters fell very quickly (3.3 and 2.1). Every series since Fourze has been pretty 1st quarter heavy, but Drive is by far the one hit the most by that effect.

And was still lower than its predecessor to start with ...

Ostensibly, sales started to rise after Kamen Rider introduced the annual collectibles into the toy line, in which case it's probably not surprising the Shift Cars didn't do so well. They are basically just toy cars that happen to appear in the show; they don't have any light or sound effects like other recent toylines and nothing to really make them stand out

The sales haven't ever matched OOO's again, but OOO had ridiculously good sales compared to almost any other series. Decade had very good sales per quarter, although it would still be beat by Ryuki, Faiz and some other earlier Heisei shows due to having a short run. W went on to beat Decade's sales and stand above any previous Heisei series. Comparing to Sentai, W by itself beats every Sentai series aside from Ohranger, IIRC.

OOO actually was another leap from W, resulting in a very large number. In a single year, it sold more merchandising than Sentai usually does in two. Fourze's numbers were very close to OOO's too. Wizard was a drop, although still above W, Gaim recovered sales, but didn't quite get to OOO's and Fourze's numbers since there was a drop in the 2nd quarter. Drive has seen a really big drop in merchandising sales compared to all those series though. The 1st quarter was good, although bellow any of the post-Decade shows aside from W, but the 2nd and 3rd quarter have had very low numbers, going to bellow Decade levels. The 1st quarter numbers still should carry Drive to around W's level though.

didin't expect this ^^ since the after market price for fourze stuff is the cheapest

Good job, Sanjo and Ohmori! Another show under your belt where the female lead starts as a rounded character and finishes as Hero's Future Wife/Babymaker!

Kiriko's still better than Akiko. And at least she's not chasing after a robot.

Anyway, what exactly is the order to watch all the Drive specials and movies, and how many are there now?

Specials:

"Type ZERO Episode 0" prologue story that takes place before the 1st episode.
"Type TV-KUN", between episodes 4 and 5 (in spite of the name and goofy first scene, it's a direct sequel to the events of Type ZERO, and also does some set up for Movie Wars Full Throttle).
"Type HIGH SPEED!", between episodes 13 and 14.
"Secret Mission Type TOKUJO" (Or Type SCU) is a 4 episode mini-series. 2 episodes are out. It takes place at some point in the middle of the show, probably before the reveal of Drive's identity, but it's not clear where. They seem to attempt to keep it fairly vague (Chase doesn't seem to be there at all and fighting scenes are very rare.

Crossover Movies and Specials:

Movie Wars Full Throttle takes place between episodes 9 and 10. (Edited after Kamen Rider ShinkenRed's comment)

"Type Lupin" is an upcoming special which will follow up Drive's story from Full Throttle, with Lupin's return, taking place in the early 40s, although I'm not sure where specifically.

"Ninninger Vs Drive" takes place between episodes 22 and 23 of Drive. Vs Ninninger actually leads directly into Super Hero Taisen GP:Kamen Rider 3, which leads into the 3 episode Kamen Rider 4 mini-series (only the first episode is subbed right now) and only afterwards it all flows back into the tv show, although the only thing relevant to Drive in all this is that some Roidmudes are killed, even an unique one whose picture pops up later in the tv show. If you like Faiz the final episode of Rider 4 is worth it though.

Summer Movie

"Surprise Future" takes place between episodes 40 and 41. It won't be available for a few months though.

"Type TOKUJO" could take place between 24 and 25.
Looking at those list, I realized how specials and crossover are canon or fits almost perfectly in continuity.
