Kamen Rider Drive - News/Rumours Thread 1

Ignoring the movie, I've always seen all of Shin and Kiriko's interactions as friendly and platonic (and I think it's extremely telling that even when Shin flashes back to "romantic" moments he spent with Kiriko, the best the show can dredge up is... shots of them standing or sitting together). For me, this is another Daigo/Amy situation: I don't buy it, and it feels quasi-incestuous. And I'm not even a Kiriko/Chase shipper, I have no real dog in this race.

I didn't like that little montage. It felt (to me) like they were saying this is the real reason why Kiriko was in the show the whole time - just as when they did it with Daigo and Amy. Even Otta/Rinna (which has been kept in the background and didn't begin building up until halfway through the show) has been better handled than this mess.

Then again, Ohmori/Sanjo are pretty poor at handling romance. They seem to literally think that any close male/female friendship, at least if it involves the hero and female lead, is automatically a setup for romance. In Kyoryuger, they thought that a single line of dialogue in an early episode was all the foreshadowing necessary to set up a supposedly plot-significant relationship (Nossan/Candelira.) Yeah, there's a reason I'm not fond of these two

I thought episode 45 was "What Is the Roidmudes' Last Dream?" and 46 was "What Was Their Reason For Fighting?"

Well, both the Chase and Shin love lines for Kiriko are cliche. Chase has the white knight love story while Shin has the partner one. I think both stories were built up really equally, by Japanese drama standards.

I'd really rather that there was no triangle at all, but it's too late for that. At least it isn't ruining the plot. So far.

I know scans aren't out yet but with the ep44 preview apparently confirming that Chief will be known as "Kamen Rider Jun", does that indicate he'll be the only user of the mass-produced Mach suit?

No, others will use it. He just calls himself Kamen Rider Jun because his name is Jun Honganji. Another scan said that the Special Defence force will use the MP Mach suits to take out the remaining 22 Roidmudes or something.

I just realized that the Mass Produced Mach suits are not only a tribute to the Zect and Kurokage Troopers but it's also a tribute to Kuuga and Agito. At the beginning of episode 43, the scene is practically a rendition of Kuuga and Agito's cop scenes .

it's not like i saw this coming, i mean if you look at all hints in some of the episodes, i knew that shinn had feelings for kirko and kirko probably does as well, i think after shinn died/came back to life, she started developing feelings for him and she got more close to him. i think she did have feelings for chase at first but i guess the more time she spent with shinn even after he died/came back to life, her feelings for him have changed.

Out of all of Sanjo's toku romances that I know of (Akiko & Ryu, Daigo & Amy, and now this), I think Shinnosuke and Kiriko, despite her obsession for Chase, is the best handled one where enough seeds were planted early on that I can accept if they ended up together. It's not as one-sided as Akiko & Ryu (where he showed zero interest than all of sudden they're married) or as last minute as Daigo & AMy, and all and all, not forced compared to both. With that said, I would rather they not end up together and just stay friends and partners on the force.... although we all know that isn't going to happened.
