Kamen Rider Drive - News/Rumours Thread 1

The announcements are short (which is good), the jingles are acceptable (W's was better, but I still prefer the pre Den-O style), the voice is lame. He sounds like he's hosting a game show.

Wasn't 'Shift Brace' the name of Go-On Green and Black's changers?

I honestly think they should keep the toys' sound effect simple but cool, like Decade, Kabuto & W. While Gaim's is not bad, the announcements are too long. I just wish Bandai will realize they should focus more on qualities than quantities when they produce toys for Toku shows

I think Gaim's is kind of a thematic choice. The announcement on Gaim's belt is supposed to harken an actor stepping onto the kabuki stage.

Don't know if this is legit or not.

I honestly thought Gaim's were pretty glorious. Everyone had a cool jingle that made them seem like the most amazing people in existence besides Ryugen, who just got the name of his weapon. Mr. Knuckleman didn't sound all that intimidating either. The transforming phrases reminded me of the announcers that hype up the wrestlers as these fierce and unstoppable men before the wrestler steps into the ring.

OOO had pretty good toy sales too IIRC. At any rate, it just means that superfluous add-ons are not the problem that causes bad toy sales. Some toy lines are just uninspired.

Ugh, I'm saying that shows with a ton of superfluous toys tend not to do well (I'm mainly thinking of Wizard, but Fourze didn't do so great either), and Drive looks like it will suffer the same fate. Shows like Gaim and OOO did so well because they had had zero one-off Medals or Lockseeds, while Wizard and Fourze had several. The other reason I can figure is the action figures. OOO and Gaim (not to mention W) had great, fun figures as well as role-play toys, while Fourze and especially Wizard's weren't so attractive. Drive's TK figures don't seem very appealing either (they have replacement chest wheels... and that's it.)

Basically, Drive's toyline seems to be making a ton of the same mistakes that previous poor-preforming series did. Time will tell, but I don't expect Drive's toys to do very well.
