Kamen Rider Dragon Knight... TRAILER!!!

If Dragon Knight turns out as awesome as the trailer looks, then I'm all for them moving on to Faiz. I don't see why they couldn't keep the name though, or at least change it to Phi. But who knows, that's years from now.

They should've kept HENSHIN instead of Kamen Rider INSERT NAME Knight, Initiate. HENSHIN sounds so much better.

Well, "Henshin" is still there.

"Henshin!" *insert deck* *sequence starts* "Kamen Rider Wing Knight, Initiate".

It's kinda like.. (If you'll excuse the horrid example)

"Ninja Storm, Ranger Form" .. *sequence* .. "Power of Air!"

Trailer just didnt show it, which would have been nice.

I wonder if they'll do Faiz next? And Will they change his name to Fives? j/k

Fives doesnt sound bad when you consider names like "Stronger". Would be kewl if they just kept the title as "Kamen Rider: 555". If you think about it, some of the KR titles are keepable. KR:Blade or Kabuto. I think Ryuki might've been changed just because it was such a strong japanese name and some others arent as strong and adaptable to english. (Not that Ryuki would've been a bad title for the english audience.)

I don't know who KingRanger is or why I'm compared to him, but the point I was trying to make is that before the US started 'adapting' Japanese live series, we saw lots and lots of Japanese live series dubbed in French over here in France. Now that the US is 'adapting' those series, all we get to see are the adaptations.

As a result, each new adaptations makes my stomach turn as I know this is yet another franchise we'll never get to see dubbed over here but instead we'll be forced to watch the US interpretation.

So in that way I guess I'm on the same line as ryuuseipro, namely that Japanese live series should be left 'as is' and each new interpretation usually doesn't do justice to the original (judging from the very generic storyline in this trailer, this will be the case again).

Besides, while 'adapting' we usually get very weird story twists and plots due to the fact they want to re-use Japanese footage and they want to force seperate live series into the same continuity even though that was originally not the case.

This may sound weird, but I really just don't enjoy watching the out-of-suit storylines with white people. Their acting is always SOO shitty, and the storylines seem so thrown together. The Japanese stuff is just more interesting to me. However, I'm definitely willing to give Dragon Knight a try.

Well, a lot of it just has to do with how Americanizing shows like this are awkward from the start. With shows like Kamen Rider, which is incredibly Japanese, using American leads can only make the show campier, especially considering the differences in American and Japanese superheroes. There's just a quality at its core that can't be converted or emulated successfully by non-Japanese actors, it would be like making Tiger Woods play pro football. It basically comes down to "fish out of water" syndrome no matter how comfortable the Caucasian fish feel in the role.

Not to mention those whities can't act.

KingRanger is a kind of notorious hater of all things American Adaptation. I didn't now that France was getting straight dubs of Tokusatsu. What were you getting before? I can definatley see that frustration. I don't see why they would change tho if the Japanese stuff was working just fine.

Here in America, those not talented like us, prefer watching tv shows that have Americans in them. They get weirded out and just can't handle shows about other cultures. My friends are geeks and they can barely watch 'em. Just think if you're trying to cater to a "normal" person.

I agree tho, that sucks, if before you were getting the Toku straight and now because of us, you're getting the American version.

For people that come to this message board tho, our options are pretty good. I bought the HK's of Ryuki and have been watching the TVN subs of near anything else I wanna watch. Just because there's an adaptation does stop the original from existing and being entertained by it.

Wow...the trailer looks badass. The whole time I was watching it, I was just like...

'Wow'...

...although, it seems like they are going with a PR-drive. I mean, come on. Exiled from this realm thousands of years ago.

Apart from that, I can't wait for this...I just hope Disney does not pick this up.
