Kamen Rider Decade - Episode 53 "The Endless Story"

I really think they could have used something more well thought out than whatever Amadam was supposed to be. For one, at least a handful of the Heisei Riders don't get their powers from monsters or anything like that, and for another, a lot of his lines were just really contradictory. Ah well.

It's basically only Agito and Hibiki who aren't connected to their enemies directly. Decade added a connection between Oni and Makamou though, and Agito's powers still came from an overlord just like his enemy (and several times still resulted in him going out of control).

Uh, from OT's .ass file for this episode:
He specifically states that he is not "stealing" their powers in that scene, but their powers were "always" his. I'm not sure how that works, unless Amadam is some sort of meta-representation of Rider villains in general.

Read the rest of his dialogue right after that though. He claims that he's not "stealing", but he still talks about making their powers become his own. He isn't denying that act of taking the powers, he's just saying that it's not "stealing".

Dialogue: 0,0:13:57.66,0:14:04.36,Default,,0000,0000,0000,,The strength you all draw upon is always the same as that which creates monsters!
Dialogue: 0,0:14:04.82,0:14:09.16,Default,,0000,0000,0000,,That is why your powers will become mine!

Amadam's bio in Wizard's official site also only talks about Amadam being an evil wizard sealed in the magic stone and wanting to break out for revenge. It also mentions that he absorbs the power sources of Riders to add to his own strength. Nothing about creating all monsters or Riders, which seems like a big omission if it was meant to be there.

I gonna say, this episode is better than that All Rider movie, and also a more satisfying finale than Wizard's episode 51. Tsubana was actually cool, Gaim was awesome, and the ultimate forms of all the Heisei Riders were pure geekgasm. It's a stupendous finish and a nice wrap for the series.

The action wasn't necessarily bad, it just wasn't anything special. Granted, I'm sure it's very difficult to put something like this together with so many different characters, but that's my inherent problem with the whole thing. The two episodes were basically an incredibly convoluted excuse to have a dozen of really powerful guys come together and kick someone. There's no tension and little drama, just fan service and personally, I find it very hard to get excited for that, especially when it's the 1 billionth time we've seen all these guys come together.

This is exactly how I felt watching it. I have nothing to get invested in after a series of having nothing to be invested in. I was just bored.

Well, most of them have share the origin or is related to the monsters. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Kuuga : The Holy Stone Amadam is the same stone that transformed the Grongi, but purified.
Agito : Agito's power originate from the Overlord of Light, and force humans to evolve.
Ryuki : Power come from Mirror Monster and are essentially made for Kanzaki's purpose.
Faiz : Need to have Orphnoch DNA to use, and created to protect the Orphnoch King.
Blade : Use Undead DNA to transform.
Hibiki : Oni is pretty much demons like Makamou, although Oni have a sense of justice.
Kabuto : Created by ZECT using Native Worm's technology.
Den-O : Need to have Imagin to fully unlock potential, ironically.
Kiva : The Kiva armor is pretty much the combined creation of Fangire and Kivat Race. Need to be a Fangire to use.
Decade : Created by DaiShocker or some will of the universe to destroy and reset everything.
W : Use Gaia Memory just like Dopant. The only difference is that W memories are the purified one.
OOO : Use the Greeed's Core Medals. Created to help the original OOO rules Europe.
Fourze : The Astro and Zodiart Switches are both made from Cosmic Energy.
Wizard : Need to have Phantom in the body.

And I'm sure Gaim's Lock Seed will have something to do with the origin of Inbess.
In Agito, Agitos were presented as the natural evolution of human beings. There was nothing "forced" about it.

In Hibiki (disregarding any irrelevant noncanon crap Decade added), Oni were always described as simply humans that trained to become that way - in Hibiki, the transformation was never attached to Makamou and was considered natural.

In W and Fourze, just because they're using the same power source doesn't inherently make that power source evil. Both the memories of the earth and cosmic energy were naturally occurring things, they weren't "the power of evil" - that's like saying electricity is inherently evil when it isn't.

It wasn't a natural evolution though, it was thanks to the power of the Overlord of Light, against the wishes of the Overlord of Darkness, the creator of humanity.

Also, we see Agitos running out of control of that power a few times, especially in flashbacks, but it happens even with Shouichi himself, like his first few transformations, when he even attacked G3, who was just attempting to talk.

Decade himself was in this episode though, so saying that it's irrelevant is rather silly, especially when we ended up with Decade's FFRs and a Decade-exclusive form being used by the Riders here. But, yeah, there was no tie between them in Hibiki itself. Still, they did add that connection later.

In both of those cases, applying the energy directly to the human body corrupted people, while the Riders had equipment that avoided that problem by using it indirectly (Fourze) or purifying them (W). The original Gaia Memories were basically only "the power of evil" too, with W's purified ones being made later by Shroud. Fourze is more arguable in that sense though, since the power is initially neutral, with two different ways to be used, but then Gamou acts to use it only in his own way, only to be betrayed by Emoto who pushes it to be used in the other way by Fourze.

That's true. If Decade is IN the episode and they use the abomination of an addendum to Kuuga's power set, then that means playing by Decade's rules. So I say the oni/makamou thing is in...as ridiculously stupid as it is.

But this is a load of rubbish. GaiaMemories are not inherently evil. The difference between the Shroud versions and the Museum versions is merely in execution, and it is shown very plainly that people are being chosen BECAUSE they are unstable, in order to evolve the memories and utilize their negative emotions. So claiming their "corrupting effect" as evidence isn't valid. The "purified" ones made by Shroud were used in the A to Z movie to 'corrupt' normal humans as well, so even drawing a comparison between the two isn't proper.

Nah, Hurricane was right, GaiaMemories are just the power of the earth, pure and simple. If humans can't handle the power and go mad...well that's a problem more with humans than the power, isn't it?

As for this, you're right. But it doesn't make any difference with regards to Amadam's mistaken statement about it. The two powers are of similar source, but diametrically opposed. Think angels and devils. Agito = White guardian, Unknown = Black guardian. I.E. Agito is NOT a failed Unknown.

Man these episodes sucked. IT is like they let an 8 year old write a show of how to get all of the 15 Heisei riders into the show without any comprehension of plot or characters. It made no sense, the villain was pathetic, and it had the annoyance of featuring Decade while not even getting the actors to voice their own characters outside of Fourze and Den-O. This thing blew chunks and was a terrible way to finish Haruto's journey regardless of them being special episodes. I'm not sure what Toei was thinking, but they could have done A LOT better.

To HurricaneDragon, on the argument of W, think about who Philip's family is.

You may be right, but the story for Wizard is already over, and what can you really expect out of these two extra episodes except for fan service? I just enjoy them as they were, which is a nonsensical way to get all the Heisei Riders together so they can smash heads and to top it off by turning into their ultimate forms and do the Rider Kicks. If this was done during Wizard's series I might have a different opinion on it, but for what it is I think it's spectacular.

Wizard and Amadam are friends in Gantz.

The only part I don't like of this episode is Beast's defeat. They should just make him hurt and can't join the battle, but that scene make him like killed for real...

Love that Decade casually said "This might tickle." to Kuuga and Agito.

Almost 2 years later and I finally know where I recognized Haruto from xD

IIRC the blurbs released about the memories/driver in magazines etc (which is admittedly a secondary source) said that the memories used by the Riders in the show are no different to the other memories, and if you used them in one of those USB port tattoo things it would turn you into a monster. The high-ups at museum (Terror, Taboo, Nazca, Claydoll) have what you might deem to be 'first generation' drivers that filter out some of the effects on their minds. The Double Driver has a much better filter, but in the process only gets 50% of the power out of each memory (hence why it uses two). A Maximum Drive basically removes the filter, allowing them to use their memory's full power for a short time at full strength.

I think the point is that the power source for Double and the monsters is the same. You could argue it doesn't apply to Agito in any way, but as a generalisation it works, and I think they were trying to call back to that basic point right from the original series that Riders tend to have the same power source as the bad guys, only they chose to use it for good instead of evil.
