Kamen Rider Blade: pretty awesome

I've said this before, but I think Blade is the exact type of show people REALLY want when they say they want a "darker" toku. As, in, it's not "dark" at all, but it has all the high stakes and drama and gravitas that they're actually thinking of.

I think I agree with this.

Leangle? Nuh-uh, didn't like him from the start and he only grew on me a little bit towards the very end. Not to mention his suit design isn't one of my favorites. The Leangle arc felt dragged to me.

I kinda like Leangle from what I've seen so far. He's so unassuming and comes off as a generally nice person who hates conflict and petty squabbles. Clearly it pisses off his girlfriend because it's so "unmanly" to be passive, modest, and easygoing, which is interesting.

The possession angle with the Spider Undead is iffy, though. Put simply, I can't say I like or dislike it.

But I will agree with you about his design. He has the weakest design of the whole crew.

A little aside, it always amuses me how short Chalice is compared to everyone else when he's in human disguise. It's silly, but that makes his character more endearing to me.

It's also really awesome how well the designers could use a heart theme for a male character and have it work very well.

Well, Mitsuki did grow on me at the end, and it'd been a long time since I'd watched Blade, not to mention with bad subs. "KAMEN SUPERMAN KENZAKI RANGER!" <-- appeared on my subs. But it gets the ideas and conversation across.

I don't really have much against Mitsuki but his arc just felt too dragged on to me that I found it hard to like him. It's like it's getting no where. Shortening the arc by a bit might had made the ending even better.

It amuse me how Chalice is short too. I'm short in real life so it makes him even more awesome and sorta relate-able in a way. Shows how height has nothing to do with anything beside reaching for a box at the top of a cabinet. And yeah, the heart theme worked superb, I have yet to see any "manly-men" say anything about Chalice, and that's kinda surprising since we're talking about a design based on hearts.

Yeah...Mitsuki's power struggle with the Category Ace dragged WAY too much. That was really one of the only things I didn't like about Blade. The rest was great. Kenzaki's bromance with Hajime throughout the series was easily the one of the high points about the series. Also it was arguably the last series with bike usage on the same levels of Kuuga. After Blade bikes became...underused.

I still love Blade to this day and marathon it every chance I get. People who didn't like the ending or thought it was a cop out, didn't get the overall theme. The playing cards were just the basic motif.

PS: ...BLADE IS NOT A SEQUEL TO DRAGON KNIGHT.

....I know...I know...I know.

*sigh*

I don't blame you

A lot of the earlier Hesei era rider series take a while to get their feet wet

That's very true. I'd say this show, along with both both Ryuki and Faiz, really doesn't properly kick in until about a third of the way into the series. After that though, I think Blade is pretty good. It's not as flashy as some, nor is it the out-and-out best rider series, but it's the kind of solid show that has a lot going for it.

Yeah, I can see why you would say the Mutsuki possession arc drags.

Because it does. It's getting really monotonous now. He gets the belt, turns evil, then loses the belt, gets it back, Kenzaki meets him at his school to question him about the belt, he feigns ignorance, rinse wash repeat.

The introduction of Tachibana's one time mentor from BOARD turned vigilante (who only lives for what, three episodes?) didn't really amount to much.

I'd call it filler if it weren't for the developments that happened in the background, like the crisis Chalice is going through at the moment, Tachibana getting a reason to become Garren again (WHEN IS HE GONNA USE THE JACK CARD?), and Nozomi realizing that her boyfriend's normal personality was just fine the way he was.

Couple that with the two new high level Undead targeting Kotarou that hacked the Undead Radar, and Chalice's serious grudge against both Leangle and Garren after the beating he took from the both of them in this and the Isaka arc, respectively.

It's good that stuff is happening, but there's still a big focus on a dragging sub-plot.

On the topic of subs, the only thing I was able to find was TV Nihon, which is fine as long as you ignore the incomprehensible translation of the opening song.

There was one strange sarcastic line that stood out to me in one episode, but it's minor.

On another side note, can anyone give me some non-spoiler context to this song? I really like it, but I have no idea who the hell is singing it (it's none of the lead actors, as far as I can tell), let alone what it was made for.

I bought a DVD boxset that "looked" like originals, I have no idea if it's HK or local. But whatever it is, it sucked big time. I'm gonna get the TV-Nihon subs to watch soon too. It's about time I give Blade a good rewatch. I loved Missing Ace. Now you share my feelings about how Mitsuki's arc's too dragged :3

Blade is really very good. I wouldnt praise it too mch though because it might too high expectations on new viewers (and I am ever against blaming shows for not delivering on YOUR expectations, entitled dbags).

That said, I find Missing Ace to be pure crapshitpukeass. It totally misses the point of the series, did stupid things with every character. Loving the TV series, I was foaming with rage after seeing this despicable disaster movie. Deleted it and never looked back. I just wished the Missing Ace remained missing.

Hmmmmm I sound like Im blaming Missing Ace for not living up to my expectations of a Blade movie.

****! Im an entitle douchebag.

Oh who cares, this movie still suck balls!
