Kamen Rider Blade - Missing Ace

I finally got around to seeing this movie today, and WOW! This was simply the best Toku I've ever seen. I simply love the scenery in this show. They film it so well. The story was great. I enjoyed seeing how everyone had changed in four years, except for Kenzaki who seemed to stay the same.

I was actually a little worried that the main focus would be these new Riders. Although the costumes were sleek, I wasn't ready to see a movie about all new characters. I liked Kenzaki and Katarou's reaction to the new Kamen Riders, and how they were ready to fight against the Undead again. There was great tension between the Riders, and the all the characters really came together after having changed.

I'm glad that I waited until I was done with the series before I saw the movie, because while you could tell there were some subtle changes by the time Blade actually ended like Kenzaki becoming the other Joker and Hajime deciding to live a life as a human, it came together like it was four years after the end of the series.

This movie reminded me why I loved the characters in the show so much, and while I've always felt that it and Faiz were both contendors for the best, Missing Ace trumped Paradise Lost on all levels and has overall made Kamen Rider Blade my favorite Toku series. I definitely recommend the movie.

Now if Hibiki could only be this good.

*nodnod* yes. I really liked the Missing Ace movie and I loved the Blade series. It was slow getting started, the series. But the more it went on the more it came together. I didnt like Leangle/Mutsuki in the Series but I really loved him in the movie. I love the dramatic opening battle of Missing Ace. Then again, I like anything with rain. And man that rain was pouring.

I wish there was more RiderChalice action though. It was explosive seeing him come in and save Amane again.

Project G-4 is easily the best tokusatsu film ever made just because of how expertly it's handled and the guy who directed it who's name escapes me right now is a genius. Missing Ace was good but it ranks 3rd for me after G-4 and Episode Final and still manages to wipe the floor with Paradise Lost which was one of the shittiest movies I've ever seen, tokusatsu or no.

this is the first I ever heard of G-4. o_o what the heck is it and where can I get me some subs?

It's the Kamen Rider Agito movie (which ironically is also the best Rider series ever) and it's called Project G-4 because it introduces a new Rider featuring an upgraded model of the G-3/G-3X system, which is the suit that one of the 3 main Agito Riders, Makoto Hikawa, wears. You can occasionally find shitty HK DVDs of it with subs that don't make any sense at all (and unlike other movies like Paradise Lost which you dont need subs to understand, or Missing Ace which really doesnt make any sense even with subs), you'd need good subtitles if you want to understand what all's going on in G-4 since it's pretty interesting stuff. You can buy it from Ken, the Cruel Angel guy, who does amazing work. You'll get Region 2 quality without the Region 2 price and subs without Babblefish HK ****. Great deal. G-4 moreso than the other Rider films (except Episode Final which also does a nice job) is very well written and directed, although like any film there are inconsistancies with the show's plot here and there, but there aren't any gaping black holes like there were with Episode Final and Missing Ace, or just unexplained stuff like Paradise Lost. Since Kuuga and Agito are the 2 best New Gen Rider shows, I really wish Kuuga had a movie instead of that cheap ripoff "special" we got which was just the first couple episodes, but even if it had I think G-4 would have it beat because hey, it's just that good.

1. What is Episode Final?
2. What was the unexplained stuff in Paradise Lost?

Episode Final was Ryuki's Movie which was a remake of the Final episodes of Ryuki of sorts. I didnt like Episode Final a whole lot. I like the series ending much better

It wasn't a remake, it was an alternate ending, which I think was better. The series ending wasn't horrible, but it left the viewer thinking "So all that happened for nothing?" the same way you feel after a funny frentic comedy film, which is a mark of bad directing (for the non-comedy film). Episode Final's ending was more downbeat and that's why I liked it more. **** works out too nicely in tokusatsu nowadays, I like a little reckless abandon now and then.

As for Paradise Lost, it wasn't that anything was particularly unexplained, but the whole movie was poorly written, poorly ended, and just really boring.
