It's time to come out...

I showed my friend THE NEXT.
He enjoyed it, but mostly laughed at the stunts, saying these things "thats impossible noone can do that!!"

"YOU WISH YOU COULD DO THAT!"

"WTF?"

and so on.

Man, I hate it when people do that. I mean I understand why some people say that stuff but it's fantasy for God sake and this is something the Japanese understand.

Besides, nobody could do half the stuff you see in an American action movie either! If you want a realistic fight go to your local bar and watch two drunk guys rolling around on the ground trying to hit each other. There! Realism! How exciting.

I heard this from someone.

If you want some to like an Anime, show them Bible Black. If you want them to like Toku, Show them Garo.

Ok, that qoute was a little exgarrated. But I do remeber the Bible Black Part.

That Garo thing really doesn't work, I showed a few episodes to a friend and he thought it was the most god awful and boring show he'd seen in ages. I showed him Ryukendo and he loved it. I think too many of us are under the impression that dark, gore and "mature" is the way to go when introducing new fans to tokusatsu. Heck, my brother got on my case for watching "Japanese Power Rangers" for ages and then he randomly checked out an episode of Den-O and Agito and loved them.

WEll, I thought the show was pretty good, but not awful or boring. I guess it's a matter of taste, some people may prefer the dark and mature side and other's don't.

He think GARO is boring and awful!?!?!?!!! :sly:

That should be a crime. XD

I loved Garo.

It wasn't because the dark/mature/whatever them neither. It was actually my first Toku, by the 3rd episode, I was hooked. It was just great for action & story line. The characters were awesome (well I hated Rei at first), & the ending was good & I just loved the show.

GARO was basically Eye Candy with a bare minimum of Substance in all the other fields. I liked GARO, it was a fun watch for me, but I have to admit that it's hardly a grand opis of Writing in a show like that. Shows like Ryukendo and Den-O tend to impress me more, as I find you actually get memorable characters who arn't the "Silent badass one".

I have to agree with too many of us are under the mistaken impression about the Dark, Gore and "Mature" for introducing people to these shows. The shows that are somewhat goofy and on the lighter side of things tend to work out better for giving an overall impression of what this sub-genre covers, plus they tend to be the better shows anyway.
