I tried showing him part of Kamen Rider The Next last night, which he was a little bemused about it. He said he youtubed it and said it looked like Power Rangers, of which I told him if he said it again, I'd kick him out for good.

It probably doesn't help that I have a lot of Kamen Rider models in my room, which he first did refer to as PR(and then I gave him the same threat).

What's everyone elses experiences of doing this? Any tips?

Personally I kinda hate trying to explain this hobby to dates. It *always* boils down to Power Rangers and all anyone remembers of the franchise isn't what a lot of just enjoy about it... :sweat:

I haven't told anyone. It is really hard...but it's cool you're making an effort to do it. I'm sure it'll be different depending on who you come out to, 'cause they'll all have different reactions. Only a little while, but it's the constant questioning of what it is and the models and stuff don't help. I'd hate for him to just think it's PR and make me look a bit sad so thought it would be better just to explain it.

Bear in mind, he referred to anime as "Chinese cartoons" the other day. He nearly got a slap for that, but made it even worse when he said he didn't know who Patrick Stewert and Sir Ian McKellan was. That made me cry.

Your partner COULD have an open mind, like me. When Faiz told me about Kamen Rider at first, I was skeptical. But I wanted to show him I was open to his interests, so I started researching it myself online. I also watched the first episodes of Kabuto, Blade, Den-O and I think Ryuki.

We talked alot about it, then he got me watching Den-O and Kabuto, and then he invited me here. And now I love Kamen Rider and it has nothing to do with Faiz at all! :thumbs:
