is PS3 region free?

I always thought just the bluray games shared the same code. Just looked on Play-Asia now. DAMN !! :disappoin If i knew that eailer, i would have bought All Rider vs. Daishocker on Bluray. :shakefist Instead my money is going to TvC and 2 Tatsunoko sticks. XD

Oh well you can save up again... I'm planing to buy All Riders VS DaiShocker in Blu-Ray in the future.

The PS3 itself has a region code. However Sony announced they will no longer force region lock into the games and it will be down to the developers individually, this also extended to video Blu-ray releases too. As far as I know no game has been region locked and only a select few video Blu-rays were region locked a few years ago when it was new but I don't think any are being done so now. So a game or video Blu-ray disc can be region locked but usually they won't be.

So as far as the DVDs go it's the DVDs themselves that are region locked.
