Is there a secret way to make PS3 region free?

Wait, so a PS3 bought in America can play Region A games, as Darkster puts it, which are both American-released games AND Japanese-released games?

Yes. The USA and the Japanese regions have the same Bluray Region.
Although you won't be able to play Japanese DVDs (Reg 2) on your US (Reg1) Ps3.

Supposedly PS3 GAMES are region free, so no worries about popping in ANY game released in USA,JP, or the UK. All games should work no matter what. It's the movies released on Blu that are region coded. And the US and Japan are of the same region codes, so your Blu "movie" be it a US or Japan release should work on US PS3 console. And vice versa. A UK released Blu movie will not work though on your US console.

I heard it might work if you boil the disc in worcestershire sauce... anyone wants to try it? ^^

Well... damaged XBX1 games worked after boiling them... soo.. this doesn't sound too crazy.

Well.. it is not the games that are region free.. It are the games that are.

I don't know... Is this a riddle?

The games usually are region-free and so are Blu-Rays, but there are those that are not. There's Region A and Region B Blu-Rays and if you have a Region A player, which comes as part of the PS3, then Region A Blu-Rays can be played on it.

Not all games are region-free, but yes. Most content that can be played is Region-Free, but if you get something with a region, it should be from the same region as your PS3. It won't work otherwise.
