I watched the first 5 episodes of W...

EVERY Toku series starts boring, IMO. Hell I haaaaated Geki for the first few eps. And after thsoe first few it grew on me and it's now my favorite Sentai

It's not just a toku problem, either. Virtually any Japanese production I've seen with an annual episode count (around 50 eps) will start off really slowly. Most of the Taiga dramas I've watched begin so slowly that you're not seeing the main character until the 3rd episode!

In anime fans consider it so likely that a show's beginning will be boring that many annual-format series experience big spikes in viewership in their last 13 episodes-- because people are tuning in to see if the ending's good enough to justify watching the whole thing.

Relative to the beginnings of most annual series, W actually strikes me as pretty snappy and fast-paced. (And yes, the show is not at all afraid to be campy, but Kamen Rider rarely is.)

W = Den-O done RIGHT

Also W ep 11-12 = Kamen Rider THE NEXT done RIGHT!!! :buttrock::buttrock:

Some people say that the 2 arc eps makes the show predictable which may made it boring. Personally I just see each case as a whole ep.

The only arc so far the was weak was the "Heaven's Tornado" eps which was pretty much filler.

The 2 ep thing does make it a little boring in that i'm not really OMG GOTTA GET THE NEW EP except for every other week.

And as for heaven's Tornado, i didn't think it was filler because it at least showed that there are some books Philip can't read. Which might come into play later.

The period dramas make me cry because they suck up my favorite j-drama actors for most of a year.

The whole 2 episode arc thing is kind of what happens in most Heisei Kamen Rider shows anyway.

As for heaven's tornado, at the very least it showed Philip when focused really just doesn't give a ****. Cute high school girl's life in danger? **** that Philip must to see the latest dance move.

i just only amuzed both Shoutaro and Kirihiko as Nazca the badass dopant. that might be right though, just not pleased about Akiko-chan messing good scene that reminds me Kidou, Shinji. X.x

I cannot imagine your average j-drama fan having any damn time for Taiga dramas. J-dramas have gotten more fast-paced and anime-like in recent years, at least to my eyes, while Taiga dramas are like living fossils.

Foreigners are going to need degrees in Japanese history just to find the damn things comprehensible most of the time, too. The shows clearly take it for granted that the audience just generally knows how things are supposed to go.

Meh, I don't see the beginning any Rider being boring. Kiva was cool when it started. Kuuga was cool too, but I bet many would disagree, I guess maybe it's because I don't mind and actually like slow beginnings XD
